Life under corrupt Republican rule!! DeSantis and Florida Republicans on the take from insurance lobby & developers as the people get screwed. Florida is a collapse in progress. 💯

So sorry I ever moved here. Houses poorly built. Golf courses seem to be the only thing the developers are concerned with. At the moment, I am watching vultures swooping down and circling my house..... They let the pond drain out so....dead fish, stench and vultures.

There is a nice breeze to help with the heat. There are a lot of areas that aren’t that affected by the hurricanes in Sarasota county. We would like to move there next year BUT the high cost of living there is a big problem. I just read that a large insurance company is raising premiums by 700 dollars. As a retiree that’s devastating. I do enjoy your videos, lots of good information.

One of the biggest issues facing my area in southwest Florida is insurance, high rents, and LOW WAGES AND LOW PAYING JOBS! Wagesbhave remained stagnant and low consistently in line with wages found in Mississippi or alabama, However the costs herebare out of control. Costs in Florida are set by the fact that every 5 years a new generation of retired wealthy northerners move here and have asset pools and net worths of 1 to 3 million dollars. The working Floridians that make 30 to 50k per year simply cannot compete in the economic market. So what's happening is the ones with money setting the prices in florida are disconnected from the working class. FLORIDAS ECONOMY is like when welathybpeople from Europe move to significantly poorer countries and make it worse for those people. They will drive the workers out of here and then it will be nothi g but contract labor from international companies that will use visa workers. We will end up being g the new UAE, extremely wealthy people staying there seasonally and the restbof the population works 80 hours per week to rent a bedroom and hear gunshots

No way I'd live in Florida. Too expensive with property taxes and car/home insurance, crazy bad drivers, over crowded and hot/humid weather. And there's always "Florida Man" ...which is a real thing. You can have it.

Yeah we just bugged out. Found a sucker to over pay for my shitty little old house. Moved north, paid off all debt. Wow, I have to wear a sweater for a few months. Better than 9 months of oppressive deadly heat.

Are you a liar? 10,000 people every year? Your population is only about 50,000 total. So last year it was 40,000? The year before was 30,000? Come on lady!
@LivingInSarasota14 күн бұрын
10,000 for Sarasota County. The population of 50,000 is Sarasota city limits. If you would like to research those facts further please check out the Sarasota County website. Thanks so much for watching.

Ok ; No way only 10,000 people a year are moving to that area. Your area is very crowded. The one thing that I have always admire about Sarasota was that your downtown started with a clean slate. Your neighbors like Tampa and St petersburg have that ( after thought) feel. They don't feel unified because they were started decades ago and have simply been adding on pieces to older designs. Also helps that Sarasota is the only downtown that doesn't have a massive high way going right through it.
@LivingInSarasota14 күн бұрын
To clarify that is 10,000 in Sarasota County. There is actually another 7,000 in Manatee County so that is why it seems to be growing so much.

We will be relocating to SRQ in about two years when I retire. What scares me most about moving here is the amount of people that have done so before us. We vacation on the barrier islands every February and its alarming how bad traffic has become in the last 20 years. This is the biggest fear we have. What used to take 15 minutes now takes upwards of an hour. Getting off the Islands is practically impossible now most times. The secret is out and that may make us look elsewhere.
@LivingInSarasota14 күн бұрын
This is very different “off season” so before crossing it off the list I would recommend visiting during the late Spring or Fall. You can get on and off keys very easily.

Sellers do not control the market, and neither do the buyers. The builders do. And the builders are over building and offering discounts and mortgage rates that regular sellers cannot compete with. After these two hurricanes, there is going to be a mass exodus, not by choice, but by force. People in all parts of Florida including Sarasota did not have flood insurance or any insurance at all. They had a paid for house worth four times what they originally bought it for. But they can't afford to fix it because they weren't millionaires when they bought in, and they aren't millionaires now. When the hospitality labor force cannot afford to live, this is going to directly affect Florida's tourism and have a trickle effect across the entire Florida housing market. This is different than 2008 and it actually is worse.
@timmyers982518 күн бұрын
No crash here, but I think lower middle class housing will be subject to national market trends, in pricing. As you know, upper end sales, usually see alot more cash involved, so this is kind of a micro- isolated area, that is bucking the Fl.and national markets.

Sarasota is "OVER DEVELOPED," and that is why I left. It got "way too crowded, and too expensive." Too many cars on the road. Imagine Fruitville Road looking like I-95 going through CT in the morning; bumper to bumper traffic headed towards downtown. That was UNHEARD of when I moved there in 2011. It was just awful, and probably still is, all that traffic.
@LivingInSarasota18 күн бұрын
Thanks so much for that feedback. Traffic has definitely increased even in a few years.

5 hurricanes in 2 years is a game changer for any barrier Island real estate or waterfront homes. Even homes built up off the ground got trashed with pools popping etc.. And it's not one area which compounds the problem as these hurricanes have had a dramatic effect from Naples to the Big Bend of Florida and there is no evidence that this trend is stopping any time soon.
@LivingInSarasota19 күн бұрын
