There are enough mods needed to the body of the car for these? I've seen some coilovers installed that requires cutting a hole in the car near the top of the shock for clearance. Not sure if the inverted shock design fixes that.

I think this how you calculate unsprung spring rate or what spring you need. So if your rear end was 1500 pounds and you subtract tires, axle, brakes, etc and you end up with 1200 pounds, your spring should be able support that weight without bottoming out. So if you take 1200 and devide by 4 you'll get 300 So you need a spring with a rate of 300 or a longer spring. This would be 25% compression for a 16 inch spring. 450 pounds in the example seems like a small amount, unless he was referring to a small car?

We weren't trying to say they aren't a good option, they may just not work down the line depending on what you are wanting to do with the vehicle. As mentioned, there are lowering springs, drop spindles, coilover setups / shock setups, etc. It all depends on what the end goal is for the vehicle.

@eddieriddle3623Ай бұрын
I may be wrong, but don't you lose 2" of suspension travel using coilovers or drop springs? Won't that increase ride harshness over what you'd get with drop spindles and stock replacement or even performance springs? Would stock height coilovers and drop spindles be a better, though more costly approach? If not, why not?

Question: I am on the edge of almost ordering QA1 coilovers for my 01 Silverado regular cab. I want to achieve a 4/6 drop . Do I also need a drop spindle? Will be my daily not for any racing. Do you recommend the 650 springs or the 750?

Yes, you will need the drop spindles to achieve the 4/6 drop. If you are running the stock engine and the truck is just going to be a street cruiser, the 650 lb. springs should work fine!

Isn't truck arm supposed to not require a panhard bar? Trying to figure out a simple solid axle suspension geometry without a lateral locator. Pinion angle is unimportant as I'm building a de-dion suspension which mounts the diff to the chassis and uses CVs to power the hubs.

This could be from a few different things. Shock valving is too stiff, your spring rate isn't the right match for your vehicle or it could be a few other things. I would recommend reaching out to our tech team for assistance. 952-985-5675 or [email protected]

Ok, so when i do this to set ride height, the rear bounces like worn shocks and hits hard as brick, so i move the shock up one hole and readjusted ride height and get same thing.....whats my problem???
@jchavins2 ай бұрын
you confuse sag vs spring rate vs spring resistance......you can compress a spring until it binds and it won't affect spring rate. Most people don't understand what spring rate is or what sag is either. Increasing the spring preload definitely increases the spring tension or resistance. It will be stiffer at the same amount of wheel or shock travel. That's pure physics. What you failing to mention when you are talking about the sag is that there will be less of it available. In the sceneio you are talking about it may not be noticeable UNLESS the customer is at the end of the available sag. More importantly what the use of this type of system you and everyone else is avoiding is whether or not the shock is rebuildable and revalveable. I would not spend the kind of money this type of system costs without this feature.
