Manny definitely didn't have that support. The thing about Jordan Peterson is he's a trained psychologist, and an excellent speaker, and has spent decades helping very high achieving women manifest their dreams. So a lot of the advice he gives can absolutely resonate with people that are struggling in immediately tangible ways. It's just that after he says something that helps them get out of their rut they feel obligated to trust all his political takes as well. The internet daddy effect. In my opinion then, the more left leaning mental health professionals get into the space the the less relevant he'll become. Just a random thought. Have you watched the show Cobra Kai? I think you'd really like it. When I'm not as strapped for cash imma patreon for your takes on the three dojo philosophies.

The entire field of psychology is dominated by left-wing academics. You legitimately do not need more left-wing figures moving into the space in order to balance things out or draw people away from a figure you dislike. The fact that conservative voices have any representation at all within that space draws a lot of ire from those who would prefer them silenced outright, but the fact remains that conservatives seeking mental health often find it impossible to find a shrink or clinician who doesn't have deeply biased attutudes towards people like them. The psychologists, for their part, are all to eager to pat themselves on the back and insist that it shouldn't matter-they, after all, can see past bias, and would never fail to be understanding, since they already know how conservatives think anyway.

@@Eldritchinator Sorry, I may not have been clear. But sure, I see your point. If you're someone that loves Trump that also has serious issues they need to address(that may or may not be part of why you love Trump) then you're never gonna seek help from people that despise you. I went with my friend who went into the movie blind. I walked out insanely disappointed for reasons mentioned in this video and more. My friend asked how the play differed and when I mentioned rapunzels death her immediate reaction was, "She SHOULD have died. It felt like she needed too." It wouldnt have been hard just copy and paste but have fun with the backgrounds in a way that brodway can't. (For example Agony and On the Steps of the Palace) but no they had to fail.

Overall, I enjoyed Yael as a character. I think they had some nice spunky and heartfelt moments and I loved the friendship between them and Lola. If I did have one gripe with the character, it’s that I wish they’d been a bit more understanding of Hunter’s point of view once they established themselves as gender neutral. I completely get them being hurt and not viewing their coming out as a big deal because they were still the same person on the inside. I also don’t like how Hunter blamed Yael for ruining things between them and saying Yael “wasn’t normal.” That wasn’t cool. But as someone who’s been in a very similar situation, it’s very hard to hear people say “you should just love the person, not the gender.” While that’s a lovely sentiment, it’s rarely that simple and I don’t think someone should be chastised for whomever they want to date, whether they’re gay, straight, bi, etc. Granted, that may be more of a script issue than a character issue. Overall, Yael’s a fine character in my book.

I was cool with Yael after they stopped wearing that horrible wig and came out of the closet. And as someone who started out watching Degrassi Jr. High in the mid-1980's, I think Next Class is a humongous drop in quality, from a writing standpoint. Maya, Miles, and Tristan were insufferable. Calling a Black character Tiny Bell was idiotic, and making him caught up with gang violence was racist as hell. Although it was funny when Tristan said, "Sayonara, Miles Hollingsworth".😂

Wendy on the book has way more character, she wasn't really on the movie. It was like a whole different character. Her true power is her words, and her grounded mentality. They even robbed her on the movie, one of her biggest moments of bravery in the rock. She's way more grounded as she is the only one that confronts Peter, since she is way more mature, something that is not always shown in media adaptations.

Peter Pan disney adaptation, takes a lot from the original book. They give Wendy's brother bad behavior to Peter, cuz Peter would never say " thats a girl's thing!" Or stuff like that. He would never get blushed with Tiger Lily, cuz he doesn't get that kind of kove because of his whole "stopped growing up at 7 day's old." He even mentions on the book he doesn't get why Tiger Lily wants to be something else and not her mom, cuz he doesn't understand. It's one of the main points of Peter, he is a child. The movie as a whole isn't really a good adaptation of the books to be fair, yes most of us have some nostalgia for it, but we have to be fair as well, it doesn't captured the true magic of the book!

@forrestdupre87 I rather disagree. While that scene technically happens, the 2014 production changes alot more than it keeps from the book like the characteristics of Hook, Peter, and Wendy, how many lost boys there are, and adding Hook's intention to destroy Neverland itself. The Cathy Rigby production is a version of the same musical and more aligned with the book than the 2014 show, but even then I'd still argue the 1924 film is the most book accurate as much more is in common with it than other works.

I think that's part of the fiction you're negating though. The Disney film doesn't do a good job of it, but Peter is still a child in more than just looks. Mentality, maturity, even perspective. He's not like an Edward Cullen who would have the mindset and wisdom of a 120 something year old because Peter never mentally or physically grew up. He's truly just a little boy who can become a man lest he stop being able to go on childhood adventures. That's why he can't even have a romantic relationship with Wendy even though she's special to him. He's too immature to conceive of romance and anything that might come with it. To him, the only special women in his life must be mothers if not just friends because that the only thing that makes sense to his restricted worldview. The 1953 film makes him seem like a teen, but really he's 12 at most. And that's what makes him the boy who never grows up. He's not a man child, but a little kid who rejects bed time lest he becomes a day older when he wakes.
