It was rated EF-3. The Enhanced Fujita Scale measures only damage. It is only from that damage that a wind speed estimate can be made. The Enhanced scale replaced the Fujita scale in 2007, providing more damage markers to survey from, and putting greater emphasis on the quality of construction before assigning a damage rating.

Correct. Damage ratings depend factors other than wind speed; factors such as timing. It's probable this tornado was even more intense given the volatile weather conditions of the day, but it just didn't impact a human made structure at that time.

Jake has a job to do and staying in character is imperative. But yeah I hope he was able to discreetly ask Ricky if he was okay. By all accounts Ricky had no problem with what Jake did, and even encouraged Jake to perform the DDT on the concrete by giving his assurance that he could protect himself.

60 MPH average ground speed. Hence, I thought to call it the running man tornado. The dead man walking tornado (Jarrell Tejas tornado for the unfamiliar) was a multivortex that backbuilded, thus took a strange slow SW path and was sometimes stationary.

Steamboat was legitimately unconscious here. This wasn't fake. Steamboat ensured Jake that he could prevent his head from actually hitting the concrete. Unfortunately he didn't.

This was actually George Scott's idea and insistence, for the DDT on the concrete. Jake didn't want to do it ... and Ricky reluctantly or was pressured into it by Scott and Vince. Jake was following orders. It was easily one of the most reckless idiotic stunts ever.

Man… I remember seeing that happen on TV that very night. As a kid I thought it was real… but then once every adult around was saying “pro wrestling is fake” I didn’t think much of it… only to find out decades later that it actually WAS a real move that almost killed a man. Reminds me a lot of when Jake took that guitar shot from Honky Tonk with a REAL guitar (not the breakaway ones they used after).

This video does not do the DDT Justice. other clips you can literally hear the crack of his skull. Its brutal. You cant even really hear it on this clip.

Jake said it took 2 weeks for Ricky’s eyes to turn black from all the fluid in his skull. Ricky suffered a serious concussion. He’s lucky he lived thru that ddt.

Jeez, i just came from the Snake Pit video where they talked about this, and that DDT is brutal for sure. I think the big issue is that Steamboat just doesn't protect himself at all and takes it as brutally as possible.

I had to look closely but Steamboat gave a quick sign with his right hand to tell Jake he was awake! (4:19) then Jake whispered to him shortly after that but you could tell Jake was sweating bullets.
