On 3/31/23, the worst tornado outbreak in Eastern Iowa history occurred. It was part of a larger regional outbreak that produced 186 tornadoes in a 24 hour period, the third most in US History. Here we see a merger of an EF-3 and EF-4 near Keota #Iowa. Both appear to be wedge tornadoes but the "third tornado" in the foreground may just be that "wedge" to the left roping out and kicking up a lot of dust, thus giving us an optical illusion. The EF-3 was previously a large wedge tornado. It tore a house off its foundation near Martinsburg, Iowa. I hope you enjoy this. This is more visual confirmation of Dr. Ted Fujita's theories on cyclical supercells and "tornado families." Specifically how they can seem to produce one long continuous path, but are two or even more tornadoes.
