Many thanks - enjoyed this. I have a Stuart Taylor seven inspired car and I love it. My speedo is in the same position as yours with emphasis on the rev counter..

I had a Series 2 from 1971 to 1975. (originally constructed in 1962), the aluminium on yours looks like stainless, mine never ever looked that good. Mine was the same colour scheme, with a black interior. Started life as the America version, with BMC engine ended up with the twin cm engine fitted. Luckily never broke the diff. Sold it to get married ,loved, and still love that car. (Still love my wife), Never mind. Who knows, perhaps it is still out there LBJ 274. Very nice video well done to whoever made it.

@joe-li3zj Joe, no that entire area was graded and now is covered with homes. The Persic family owned a lot of that land but sold it when their grandfather passed. He had been exploring for gold there for years and the remains of the familys home was still there around 1980. I never tried to enter the shaft because it looks just to dangerous and had no evidence of anyone having been there for years. I did most of my exploring on a mountain bike. The video of the area is great and absolutely true and it extended almost to Rancho Cordova and many miles down the American River. All gone now.

There’s no such thing as the town of “New” Melones, just Melones. The reservoir/lake is called New Melones.

Not sure why I titled it that way. Maybe I was tired. 😂 The town of Melones is correctly referenced in the story.

My Uncle worked for GF Atkinson when they built the New Melones Dam. During building of the road to the surge shaft a pay seam was uncovered, high grading occurred before the whole ledge was blasted off the hillside.

That Coast Guard Ice Breaker is WAGB-4 Cutter Glacier. Originally a Navy ship, handed down to the Coast Guard. I made the last deployment to Antarctica on her in 1985/86. She sat In Bremerton for a few years before making her way south to the mothball fleet.

The ironic part of my story is how this ship followed me throughout my career, or so it seemed. When I was assigned to Coast Guard Polar Operations Division (POPDIV) my second deployment to Antarctica was aboard Cutter Glacier. After my POPDIV tour I was assigned to Coast Guard Air Station Port Angeles. This was when I saw the ship occasionally when I drove by Bremerton. Years later, I was assigned to Coast Guard Air Station San Francisco. This was when I saw the ship occasionally anchored with the Mothball Fleet. Between 1985 and 2005 Coast Guard Cutter Glacier was it was not uncommon to fly over the ship. Cutter Glacier was kinda an old friend, after that initial deployment. She was home away from home during the deployment. When I drove by her in Bremerton of flew over her in the Mothball Fleet, it was like seeing an old friend.

An S2 with black lamiplate?
@FolsomDann
@FolsomDann Жыл бұрын
This car was built from a kit in 1961. The builder, original owner, did an amateur paint job on the exterior but also painted over the red Lamiplate inside. I wish he hadn't! I've tried almost everything to try to get the black paint off but after 60 years it's been near impossible.

I think I will watch this every day until I get my Cat going. Yes, you do receive a lot of attention. On the upside, its better to be seen by drivers than not. I have driven beside others and watch how long it takes for them to notice me. Very often, they don't see you until you are passing.

By the way, I could recommend protecting/moving the clutch cable from the heat of the exhaust manifold. On a long run on a hot day, those headers are going to get VERY hot. ( Take it that they may even glow just a little bit!) It'll melt the inner liner inside the cable and then you'll be needing a spare or a rescue.

I added a thermal barrier sleeve to the cable. I intend to wrap the pipes as well. For LHD cars with a right side fork, I have only found five foot long cables. Looking for a better cable.

Hi Greg. You couldn't see it in the video but the interior side panels are also red. If and when the seats are re-upholstered they will be red as well. Good luck with your project. I owned two Lotus 7's in the past.

Yes, you are acorrect because my home in Foldom was built on top of the tailings and there was an old shaft about 300 yards from the house. There was another dredger located at Rancho Cordova that sat there for years. One day I walked over the tailings and was able to go inside and I walked around and saw how it was operated. It is gone now, dont know who removed it but in my opinion it should still be there as a reminder of what happened during the gold rush days in and around Folsom. From one of the video pics along Hwy 50 I can easily see my home on Heaton Way, what a great treat and thank you.
