In the car i already laugh my ass off as I'm chasing the dragster next to me, and saying stuff like "I'm gonna getcha!" or, "you're done son!". Hey bud, love the content. I'm a Short time follower, big time fan lol I have a few questions if you don't mind brother. 1. When racing and theres huge down time between rounds and your last round was sunny and now its fully dark, how much does night time effect your reaction times? Are you doing anything with the delay? 2. when racing against a door car(something with front end overhang) and you look over at the beams to pick a reference point on their car for judging the finish line. Does their foot or foot in a half front end overhang play in effect on how you'd gauge the finish line? Thanks! keep up the great job
@TheRockRacing3 ай бұрын
1. Not an easy answer for me because I’m honestly still learning how that affects me. I know back in the day before LED’s you could see the light start to come on at night on an incandescent bulb, so people were faster back then. But I think now with LED’s most people are either the same or slightly slower at night. I would say I’m slightly slower. But I don’t like subtracting delay. I usually find myself adding a few thousandths delay as the night goes on for comfort 2. Before the race I try to look at my opponents car to see what I think will trip the finish line beam and how much overhang they have. Then I look over when we are both pre-staged to get my spot (just like against a dragster) However, you have to move your spot up to account for the amount of overhang they have. For example if I’m racing a roadster and I think it has 2 feet of overhang. Then if I look over while pre-staged and I’m just behind their back tire, then I would move the spot up a couple feet and tell myself I need to be in front of their back tire. Thanks for all your support man!

Dude thank you for this. You are the only person that I have found so far that is explaining this style of driving. I'm just getting into bracket racing for the past few years. 1st year no traction on my 2018 Chrysler 300 700hp. 2 year COVID heart attack and recovery and blown tranny. 3 year youngest son dies😢. This year my wife said get your butt back at the track. Go get the tranny rebuilt 😮. Well on the HP70 there is no trans brake and foot breaking even with a 2step it is very difficult to win. I'm running late this year but will have a trans brake and delay box😊. Im bumping up the HP buy 100 to 150 just to put me a little fast then most in the sportsmen class. Now I can start to learn how to race and not just drive and at 55 let's hope this old man can learn new tricks with an open mind. I'm having a hard time wrapping my mind around everything but will watch your videos in the hope of learning. Are there any books that can help me or explain more about the math around this? Like my car for several races was right around 11.3 to 11.4. would I dial would I dial 11.5? My RT was all over the place but should be a 100 times better with the new equipment and a lot of practice on the tree.
@TheRockRacing6 ай бұрын
Yes gotta get back out there man! Sounds like your new combination will be good. Sportsman will be a great place to learn and try new things if you want to experiment. Anywhere from 20-50 on the tree will be solid. For finish line I would see how much ET your car ranges and base your dial on that. If it moves .05 then maybe dial .05 up to cover it for example, as long as you figure out a way to kill it accurately. I’m not sure of any books. This is Bracket Racing Elite has lots of written lessons but it’s a paid subscription. Be sure to let me know how it all goes man!

@@FadetoBlack1463 I guess it didn’t go through. When I said don’t get caught looking, I meant… don’t let anything the other driver is doing effect your own plan. In the race in the video, I was watching him so much that I almost didn’t get on the brakes in time. I hit them too late and had to hit them extremely hard to barely kill enough. Thanks for sharing Rock - makes good sense to me. Would you recommend that racers have several ways to kill a fixed amount of time to provide options or "outs" depending on how the race looks? For example, 0.02 - I can get off the gas at point A, I can hit the brakes at point B or a couple of womps at point C?

@@timeslipsim Dang lol idk what happened. I had said yes I agree with having multiple ways to kill it. At least 2. And like you said 2 different ways, 1 with gas and other with brakes would be good. Have to see how the race plays out to decide which one. If you feel good up front and the position looks favorable I would lean towards the gas. If you think you missed it and the position looks bad then maybe go with the brakes.

this is what I disliked about drag racing we called it racing the variables, its hard enough to win, however this is what we have to work with, it cost me a division championship, the clocks recorded [on a 8.90 index] a 8.88 at 138 mph. in a dragster [impossible] I had the light, made the first turn out, lost the championship by two points, hard to believe but the guy that won it was the guy I lost to on that run. that's racing, thanks rocky keep the videos coming
