Amazing work! Am not sure if this is addressed at the end, but you could potentially go even faster by narrowing the seed search space at certain points. As in, if at a certain Point A with a progression Point B, you know that starting at seeds N-2, N-1, and N will all land you at Point B only once you reach seed N+p, (as in, the seeds at values N-2 and N-1 result in an effect that doesn't alter your progression after you reach seed N), you have now just synced 3 of your timelines and narrowed your search space! This could potentially remove a lot of "impossible" conditions from your search space and hopefully cut out some of the extreme conditions you are otherwise having to account for! Would love to see this as a TAS-specific speedrunning category and all the cool maths folks do to try narrow the number of necessary button clicks as much as possible!

@@Respectable_Username this is one of the “minor” things I left out of the video, but you’re right. At any given stopping rule, seeds group up and then stay grouped barring special circumstances like the day/time or prior events. Narrowing the search space is one of the considerations I had, but it ups the complexity a lot despite narrowing the number of seeds, since now each seed has memory. Which means I’d have to “follow” the seeds as they progress through the game, which is more difficult than just running all 4 billion of em every time and making no assumptions. That said, I think it’s a very interesting question and concept and one that I will probably be diving into at some point ;)

@ Ah, I didn't take non-random events like time of day into account and assumed you could just "abandon" seeds once they converge. That makes a lot more sense why you'd still want to treat each of those instances separately then!
