omg I also got a black Pen FT in near mint condition from Japan! 😅 Great minds think alike! I really wanted one that was as good as new just like you. So I just decided to splurge. I'm planning on using it with Nikon lenses via two adapters

Great video - also, I have the Olympus 35-70 F4 Auto Zoom Vintage lens and its great however, I see in the focus screen middle circle sometime turns half black and half clear - the general focus is ok - I'm new to Olympus am I doing something wrong here? (I don't experience that with Canon , Pentax,..etc. lenses and cameras)

Beside ergonomics and aesthetics, these type of SLR’s are far more advanced than all “premium” point and shoot…you know what I’m referring to 😅. Good lens paired with these cameras, will produce stunning results. Great video!

I have most of the Nikon / Nikkormat SLR's in my collection to the F100 and F5 (I don't have the first gen AF ones bc they suck imo and the F6 and FM3a are overpriced due to rarity). But the real important thing is the lens. I have several zoom lenses. The newer ones (some Nikon is still selling I believe) are much better imo. The 80-200mm F4 manual focus one being an exception. I usually being a few lenses on my photo walks. Sometimes two camera bodies just to have two different film stocks at once. I'm not a pro, so I don't get a lot of free time so I like to have the gear I want when I do have a day to shoot. I don't know. I tend to like the longer focal lengths. My favorites of those are the 105mm 2.0 DC DEFOCUS and the same 135mm DEFOCUS lens. I also have the MF AIS versions. Well, the 105mm is f2.5. I also love the 85mm f1.4 AIS The widest lens I have is a 28mm except two 16mm fisheye lenses. For whatever reason I picked up the 16mm AIS and the 16mm AFD lens, which I think are the same optically. I may sell one. I love working with that. If you like those weird compositions. I think the best compositions utilize the fisheye effect to a certain degree but not too much. But at 16mm you don't get the circles around the frame. I don't like that. Sorry for the length of the post.

The Sunny 16 rule has been used since the beginning of photography. It has always worked and will always work, it's not magic, but I'm amazed how many young photographers have never heard of it. btw, it also applies to digital

Hello Lucy Thank you for sharing . I'm a street photographer in the UK , I shoot with various Nikon cameras , the lens's I use is the Sigma 18-250mm & the Sigma 18-300mm , I occasionally use my Sigma 8-16mm if I want a wide angle street photoshoot , it's a no brainer & they always produce excellent results , but understandably it's all subjective & each to their own , I mainly shoot on the Nikon D 200 , I do have the Nikon D 800 , but I have more fun with the crop sensor , if you have a Nikon D 200 & purchase the above lenses you'll bless the day rest assured & won't look back .

Those Zuiko lenses work great with the Sony A7… series. They are fantastic, they are fun to play and they have something special. All at a very little price.

Very important camera you’ve missed is the Konica Autoreflex/Autorex P which literally can switch between shooting full and half frame on the fly. Not a gimmick camera, actual slr with good glass.

It comes naturally to be honest. I did not even think. I guess a Snapper or Olympic shooter do the same?

Lens selection is angle of view and also speed. You have a great way addressing the first. Which validates people who think a 100 meg sensor can crop images in camera and Give you diff angle of view. (Hirs Leica) You can have a fast zoom and shoot at different apertures and see what you like. May be. Good video. Thank you.

In 1980, I bought a Nikon EM shortly after it arrived in the Uk. Really enjoyed it. 3 years later I bought the first Nikon L35AF as soon as it was released. Owned and enjoyed for many years. About 6 or 7 years ago, I bought a second user Olympus E-620, like yours here. It spent the next few years sat in its box, until I got round to listing it on Ebay. For me, after being seduced by reports, reviews, descriptions....., on seeing it, and holding it in my hands, it was just another very large lump that modern SLRs in their digital form had become. A long, long way from my handy Nikon EM. The sheer bulk of the E-620 was a big no, no for me.., I never got round to exploring its merits as a camera.

the quality from the full frame 35 is just so much more noticeable to me. ive been trying to justify buying a premium point and shoot for a while now, specifically the nikon 28ti, but just havent been able to do it because im so nervous about it breaking immediately. weirdly enough despite how many issues you had with the rollei i think this video has convinced me to go for it.

I watched another of Lucy's videos and my 24 yr old daughter walked in just for the second she was ass naked. She (my daughter) said she was going to make a video like that. I advised that it may attract a lot of unwanted attention and she's graduating soon with an MBA. Prospective employers look for everying you've ever done online I told her. Guess us Americans are just prudes. I was so glad when she got rid of the nose ring and am so glad she made it to 24 wo a tatoo (that I know of anyway). 😮

Yeah, I recall this flop from the 80s. It did bring a lot of functions (matrix metering for one), but it had (according to fellow shooters who used Nikon, I was a Canon shooter back then) according to many, serious tech and quality issues. I believe it was only around for 5 years or so before Nikon discontinued it in the late 80s.

The design and build quality of this lens make it feel premium. Wide-open shots have a slight swirly bokeh, giving portraits a unique flair. Works well with a6700, with sharpness improving at f4. Eye-tracking works well, though I’d appreciate a firmware update for video focus.

Good photo walk! Nice shots all around and Lux hit a home run with his shot of you! My only medium format camera is a box Kodak from the '20's... no adjustments... I am not sure of the shutter speed or the f-stop. I am betting f-5.6 and about 1/50th sec. I will ( one day ) actually shoot a roll through it. Just to see what I get.

Look like Fuji imposed some fine tuning on Kodak film factory. The red are not Fuji Red, but they remove enough ugly Kodak Yellow to save the shot and fool everyone except you.

This is such a fun idea! Personally, I think every photographer should own at least one zoom lens (something like an 18-200 or 28-200) for situations when you're limited to one single lens, or just need that versatility. Granted I almost exclusively shoot 28mm and 50mm, but it is nice knowing I have the option. Unless you're doing event photography, portaiture or anything that requires that sort of compression, an xyz-50 f/2.8 standard zooms lens will cover 90% of your bases. Love to see it.
