Hi again, thanks for your so prompt answer. 😄 I do understand fully all that you have explained. So agree not to follow the story, but to use the illustrations. And with all the guidance of the videos have taught myself how to add pages, and I actually love doing that. Torn out pages of the story book would work better, understand what you mean if I had to take it out from the spine in double pages, very boring. Thats sorted. Now I thought of making a small journal for a child, so in keeping with the story, which I think she would want to read, I could tear out the pages, carry on with all the Ephemera etc. puzzles and whatever, and just add story pages in between in the correct order. Would that sound like a great idea. Looking to go beyond my bounderies. Everything you tell me, goes into my notebook. 🥰 You are a great tutor.
@sandyvanderlinde237Ай бұрын
Hi, I would love to ask you a question. Seen others, that have added story book bits. But I could never really understand what was what. Do you take the story book apart, and as you build your Signitures, add the pages in between all the other pretty papers. So the story still continues, but more exciting and adventurous to the end?
@KittywittyPapercraftАй бұрын
@@sandyvanderlinde237 Hi Sandy! It's a little hard to explain in writing,but I will try! Yes, you take the pages out and depending on how you remove them, determines how you can add them back in. You can either pull the entire signature(s) out from the spine by pulling the covers back very far and pulling them out OR you can tear the pages out. If you remove them by pulling them away from the spine, the pages will be wider than if you tear them out. With the extra width, you can wrap that extra width around the crease of another page where it is folded for the signature and secure with glue or tape. Of course that means that strip of paper will show on the page where it is attached, but you can turn it into a decorative element with washi tape, paint, fabric, etc. If you tear the pages out, you can add them back into the signatures (mixed in with other pages) and attach them by using wide washi tape on the torn edge and the page you want to attach it to. You can also turn the torn pages sideways and fold them in half and add just like any other folded page to a signature. That is actually my preferred way to do it, because I like the way it looks. I'm less concerned with it reading like a story bc it is now intended to be a journal and for me, the purpose of the original pages in a junk journal is just to appreciate and enjoy the illustrations. But that is a personal preference. I hope this helps! Let me know if you have any questions!! Thank you for watching! 🤗❤️❤️❤️

When my Etsy shop was running, I found it more profitable to sell craft supplies than to make the actual crafts to sell! I also find that I end up giving things away because it is more satisfying than selling things underpriced. People just don't value other people's time and effort!

@KittywittyPapercraft3 ай бұрын
@@sharonjohnson7474 Hi Sharon! I haven't posted videos in a few years, but the most I made in a year from KZbin ads was $400...for the whole year. 😄 That's mainly because I didn't post very often. It takes awhile to be able to start making money (1,000 subscribers and 3,000 hours of video watch time) and then you need to post videos regularly and hope that people watch all the way to the end or close to it (at least 80% of a video needs to be watched by a viewer in order for any of their time watching the video counts!). People do make money from YT ads, but it takes time and dedication to get there. Best of luck to you! 🤗🩷✨️🩵

I need a tribute to the North American Little Golden Book, the Mother Goose book that had Hey Diddle Diddle located on the front cover and the page that had Humpty Dumpty/Humpty Alexander Dumpty getting scared of falling off the wall by sitting on the wall in balances.
@voice2skul5 ай бұрын
my first Little Golden Book was Three little Pigs. I was born in 72 so I would guess I was under 5 years old. But the miracle of it was that my family and I were driving on a long trip and we were out in the middle of nowhere in a forrested area. So I needed to pee and my dad pulled over to let me use the forrest. While I was finding a tree to go on, I found the three little pigs on the ground in the forrest. I was so amazed by this find and I kept that book forever. It was in pretty good condition though I could tell it was older than me. Wish I still had that book.

First, thank you for being so transparent and sharing this information with all of us!! This video series is SO helpful especially for us starting out. I never quite understood the pricing aspect and selling platforms. Even before Etsy raised their fees I’ve sold a couple of journals on that platform, priced by guessing and upon the sale being finalized (free shipping) I was sad to see what was actually deposited into my account. I ended up feeling like I simply paid to sell and it barely covered materials or not at all… well this was surely the case for my smaller journals. But as you said, taking the time to consider the cost is definitely eye opening!! Thank you so much! ❤
@KittywittyPapercraft6 ай бұрын
@@gingisjourney Hi! Thank you so much for watching and commenting!! Yes, there are many costs that have to be deducted for sales online that need to be covered by your pricing! If you want to make a profit, you have to be sure to cover all those costs in your prices! I have never been able to offer free shipping. It costs way to much to cover that. I think Etsy made a huge mistake by pressuring sellers to offer free shipping because according to them "it's what buyers these days expect and/or want." I think Etsy buyers know Etsy isn't Amazon and small businesses cannot absorb that cost, but once they became a publicly traded company, it became all about the bottom line and satisfying shareholders. Sorry to sound bitter! LOL. You can make a profit, you just need to price accordingly. Most junk journal buyers know these journals incur a lot of costs for the makers. I wish you all the best!! 🤗🩷✨️🩵

So, make heaps of journals and have stock of empty/naked ones from cardboard boxes and book covers. I don't tend to use mass-produced single-use materials such as stickers and transfers and make a lot of my own ephemera from old books I find for pennies or free. I do decorate some of my books and enjoy the process and looking at them when I'm done. I enjoy finding my materials and have a craft shop's worth of stuff in my stash. I think the kit route is the way for me...
