I was trying to install the 10k model today but after coupling the trailer to the hitch ball, the levers were directly under the L brackets and I wasn't able to move them out to the side to get them on top of the L brackets. I didn't see this issue mentioned in the manual or video. What am I doing wrong?

Hi there, once I set up everything, before I back up my trailer at my drive way which is sloping down, which means the front of the trailer will be much lower than the back of the trailer, before I back up, shall I dispatch the sway bar off or shall I keep it on the L Pin and remove it after I set up the trailer level at my drive way? Thank you😢

I have a question.... What if you regularly tow with people in the cab of the truck... IE say a family etc every time you tow... Are you supposed to do this WITHOUT or WITH those extra people in the cab? Because that will change the bias yet again...

We used to own a Honda Odyssey to pull at its rated 3500lb capacity with a 14’ utility trailer loaded with a 2000lb Polaris Ranger using a Fastway E2 WDH rated for 4500lbs (I believe, it’s been a while), added trailer brakes and brake controller in the van and it made towing a fantastic, stress-free experience. No sway, the front drive wheels were kept in solid contact with the road, etc. Our van got totaled by someone and we moved up to a full sized SUV in prep to buy a camper. Models we are looking at are around 6000-6500lbs unloaded and have GVWRs around 7000-7500 with lengths around 33ft. After our awesome experience with the Fastway E2, I chose the Equalizer without a second thought for our camper and just purchased it to have in time to haul our new camper on it’s maiden voyage. The E2 was amazing at controlling sway. Even when I could feel the side winds pushing the van and grabbing the roof of our ranger like a sail, our van and trailer stayed in line with zero fishtailing. I can’t imagine how much better 4 points of sway control will be. American made products with American steel!

I recently purchased the equalizer 4 point hitch. Recently returned from my first trip. Fyi I didn't lubricate the pivoting head and omg was it noisy. Now I see that had a remedy. I had one major problem if you guys can help me with this. After making a left hand turn and straightening up my car would pull to the left. Same thing would happen if I made a right turn. After it would pull right. It made my highway ride extremely uncomfortable and unsafe. Especially when a semi would pass me. It felt like the hitch would never return to a straight line with the trailer. Sort of if the hitch would seize up . Are my bolts over torqued. Do I need to regrease everything. Btw the car has new tires and a fresh alignment. Also when not towing it treks perfectly straight.

Nice video! I just upgraded to this hitch after running with a Fastway E2. Quick question: For the L bracket install the manual indicates to place them between 27-32 inches from the center of the coupler head, depending on your clearance. What would be your recommended placement distance if there is nothing in the way? Meaning if I have room to place mine anywhere in that recommended range of 27-32 inches should I shoot for the middle of that? Thanks!

I bought a new truck with a 6" lift kit. I purchased from etrailer a new Equalizer drop shank for my new 2 1/2" receiver. I've worked the better part of a day chasing the recommended % for weight distribution. I started at 33%, then 45%, then 100%, then 11%, then back to 50% finally settling on 91%. The truck and trailer look good and I'm within 1/8" to 1/4" of the front wheel well height unloaded versus with distributed load. Is this "good" or should I try to get closer to the 75% optimum?

I just did this with a 2018 quad cab ecodiesel with autolevel air and a 26bhsck (i think it was) and we had the hitch flipped, 1 hole up in the L brackets and 6 washers. The truck was on level ground when i set it in jack mode. when I turned off jack mode the air suspension didnt need to self level and I lost nothing. the trick to this is when you raise the tongue jack, check the front AND REAR heights before turning jack mode off. if front and rear drop dispraportionally, its setup wrong cause the air autolevels unless its over capacity. there is nothing you can do about the 1” rake on ram 1500’s with air but you can setup so the rake is maintained. best towing experiemce ive had in 25yrs. I didnt even have to scale it this time. of the back drops more than the front, theres not enough weight transfer and the air suspension is going to unload your bars. the air suspension should not be auto leveling, its dangerous

The Equal-i-zer Hitch works with great with the majority of towing vehicles and can be adjusted to fit on most raised vehicles. Having a lifted towing vehicle may require you need to purchase a bigger rise/drop shank in order to place the hitch ball at the correct height. To determine if you need a larger than standard drop shank size for your setup, you can use our shank size calculator at the following link. www.equalizerhitch.com/find-your-shank-size

@EqualizerHitch
@EqualizerHitch 2 жыл бұрын
If your front fender is ending up high in the front after the whole system is connected, this is a good indicator that your hitch may be under-adjusted. For an under-adjusted hitch, you simply need to add more weight distribution by either adding additional spacer washers behind the hitch head or by raising up the L-brackets on the trailer frame a hole or two. This will help transfer more weight to the front of the tow vehicle and lower it back down to its original height. If you need further assistance with hitch adjustments, feel free to contact our customer support team during our regular business hours at 800-478-5578 or by sending an email to [email protected].

When measuring the trailer to see if it's parallel to the ground, do both sides of the trailer have to be the same? Or just the front and back measurements? I can make set equal height front to back on one side of the trailer but the other side is off. So I remove the sockets from the hitch head to lubricate them........is that wrong? I just purchased this system and I couldn't even move the sockets with the spring arms in (which seems like a huge issue). My truck also has a suspension leveling system that will counter when I put a trailer on the back so the measurements for weight distribution are never the same. I can't say I'm overly impressed with your product right now.
@EqualizerHitch
@EqualizerHitch 2 жыл бұрын
We are sorry you are not impressed, and would love to help you through these questions. When an Equal-i-zer hitch is brand new, the arms are very tight. This is due to fresh paint, and highly torqued bolts. Lubrication will definitely help, and as you use it, the arms will move easier. You can also lightly back off the torque of the bolts, if you are still having issues. If you call our customer service team, they can help walk you through that and how to adjust your weight distribution with your leveling system. Our customer service contact is [email protected] or call them at (800) 478-5578. Here's a video that might help as well: kzbin.info/www/bejne/o5uVoKR3ntGnqc0

I'm confused does it do anything else because it is pricey for laser measuring tool and a target to aim at for consistent readings. From what I can tell you are just doing very simple math: multiplication, division and subtraction. What else am I missing? WD% = [(FW2 - FW3) / (FW2 - FW1)] * 100 Where WD% is weight distribution % FW1 is front wheel measurement before load FW2 is front wheel measurement after load without weight distribution hitch FW3 is front wheel measurement after load with WDH
