Are you walking about tightening your EQ bolts? If so they should be between 60-100ftlbs!

Important items that were left out: First, one should not lubricate where the bars rest on the L brackets...doing so would reduce the friction, and hence negate sway control. Second, the bolts tightening the sockets should be periodically torqued to 60-65 lbs, so that the arms do not swing easily...if they swing easily, then the sway control is again negated, which is to say, u have no sway control, only a weight-distributing hitch.

Thanks for these comments! We will be sure to include those points in our next video!

What brand & model do you folks recommend for a torque wrench? TIA!

Those come pre-torqued, but you'll always want to make sure they are tightened to at least 65 ft lbs!

We have our four-point equalizer weight distribution and with anti sway bars installed by the RV dealership that we bought a trailer from. Unfortunately after About 50 miles which makes it awful metal grinding sound very loud. It tells us this is normal, is this true?

When the Equal-i-zer is first in use the sound is absolutely normal. We recommend lubricating the hitch head and the hitch ball to help to eliminate sound as well!

what about the underside nuts that go into the bottom of the hitch head? below the sway arms

Those bolts come pre-torqued, and should be torqued to at least 65 ft lbs!

wouldn't lubing the square bar holder lessen sway control? I thought that was the 3rd and 4th point of sway control in the E4 hitch set up??
@EqualizerHitch3 жыл бұрын
You DO want to lubricate the square tube sockets in the hitch head. That will keep your Equal-i-zer hitch running smooth for a long long time. You do NOT want to lubricate the brackets that are mounted to the trailer frame. That will lessen your sway control! There is enough tension in the head that lubricating the hitch head does not cause a loss of sway control.

I notice in video you have the hitch installed at the truck end with arms attached there. How are you attaching to the trailer using this method? I always hitch up first then attach the arms after. Unless I missed something in the video.

Yes, you will hitch up first before attaching the arms. We were just showing how to set it up originally, and then cut directly to how to set up the weight distribution setup.

What should the vertical bolts that grip the swing arms be torqued to?
@EqualizerHitch4 жыл бұрын
The range is 65-100 ft lbs. Anywhere within that range is great!

Installed our new hitch yesterday. Perfect timing on the video! Love our hitch!
