We were not ready for space yet. We needed energy advancements first. Once we break our reliance on fossil fuels, then we can go to space.

I think this song indicates "Space, the final Frontier." The drums/bass sound like a galloping horse, making you subconsciously think of the Wild West, while the looooooong notes picture you gesturing up towards the sky. The end of the song even has a heavenly choir of oooOOOOOooooOOO, for when you go to visit the heavens (outer space)

The music is clever, it simultaneously suggests heavy burden (horsedrawn wagons across rough terrain) and the spaciousness airiness of the landscape. A masterpiece.

The opening fiddle part was played by the late Martin Fay (1936-2012); the rest of the band (including Sean Potts, who plays the pennywhistle) come in a minute later. The Chieftains 4, which this song was first included on, also featured new member Derek Bell (1935-2002) on harp.

Loved this movie as a kid. Looking back, we're kinda the bad guys, but it was just a cool movie at the time (still is unless you're african)

In the movie Private Hook is portrayed as a malingering drunken layabout. The reality is the complete opposite; he was the epitome of a professional soldier. The film makers' decision to portray him the way they did is a disgraceful insult to the memory of a very brave man.
