How do I replace these if one is broken?
@arcaderepairtips14 күн бұрын
If your potentiometer is broken, you just need to find a replacement with the same value, desolder/remove the broken pot from the board, and insert/solder the new pot. You can find replacement potentiometers and other parts from many of the suppliers listed under the Arcade Parts Suppliers & Distributors heading on our Resources page at www.arcaderepairtips.com/resources/. Hope that helps.

can you please tell me how to lower the volume. I have a ms pac man but i think the board is a replacement board meaning it was another game before but I really want to know how to turn down the volume. Its too loud
@arcaderepairtipsАй бұрын
On original Pac-Man/Ms. Pac-Man game boards, there is usually a volume potentiometer located just below the heatsink in the top right of the PCB (when you have the board oriented with the edge connector on top). Adjusting this pot should control the volume. If the pot does not work, check that the value is changing when it is adjusted. Now, it’s possible that you have a bootleg game board that does not have a volume control on it. In this case, you can install your own volume potentiometer between the game board and the speaker. See our post/video on Assembling A Cocktail Cabinet Kit (With JAMMA Wiring Harness) (kzbin.info/www/bejne/pnjMhIVpjMysiLcsi=cSFGMkyhEuto47MP&t=1403) for more information. Hey guys this is Brandon (monitor issues). Thank you so much for taking the time to address my question! I probably should have given a bit more info. It's a brand-new Viewlix machine that was unfortunately damaged during shipping. I did in fact run a VGA from the JAMMA Board to an old PC monitor I had lying around - and it looked great with no squiggly lines, only clean resolution. So it appears to be a monitor issue, the one that came with the setup. I will try your advice to AutoAdjust and see what happens - thanks again!

39:55 OMG, didn't realise my question actually made it in an episode, thanks guys! I'm vastly familiar with console emulation, but arcade emulation tends to be trickier. 😅 Found myself in your channel again because I needed a refresher on DIP switches. I was using FBNeo back then which also had the option to modify hard DIP switches. I'm thinking of moving to MAME now because it's easier to match romset versions. I'm also using the ARCADE64 UI which I recognise from the slide you made. Thanks again!

I also texted my friend who isn't in any "woowoo" stuff and the 1st thing she said was, "sage the house." Then we remembered my brother and his girlfriend slept in that room once and she said, she saw a man standing next to the bed, thought it was my brother but he was still in bed. We brushed that off at the time. Mom DID confirm a male occupant passed in that home prior to them owning it. Maybe we should sage the house or call Ghostbusters. Thanks guys! Well done!

What about a TAITO cocktail to jamma?
@arcaderepairtips2 ай бұрын
So, the easiest solution would be to use a Taito Classic Cabinet to JAMMA PCB Adapter. This would allow you to preserve the current wiring in your game while still giving you the ability to swap JAMMA boards in as you wish. As to Horizontal Collapse, I have a Gorf standup game. Every now and then, while playing, the sides of the screen will start to pull inward a few times, and then it pulls in to a full horizontal collapse, with just a vertical line from top to bottom. I have slapped the side of the cabinet and sometimes caused the vertical line to open back up to an open screen and the horizontal collapse goes away. Also, there have been times where the background sound will go out, but the sounds of the shots and explosions will still work. Then later, the background sound will return. It really depends on the day I turn on the game. Some days there are no problems, other times I get the issues noted above. What can be done? Thanks.
@arcaderepairtips3 ай бұрын
@pixnstix The random collapse you are experiencing sounds like a monitor issue. Since you can slap the side of the cabinet and make it go away, it would seem to be caused by cold, cracked, and/or broken solder joints. Remove the chassis and touch up the solder on all joints in the vertical section. See our post on Repairing Monitor Collapse Issues (www.arcaderepairtips.com/2011/04/07/repairing-monitor-collapse-issues/) for more info. Of course, might install a cap kit as well while you have the chassis removed from your cabinet. The background sound issue would seem to be more of a board issue. Check the connection between audio board and the game board along with the audio amp for cold solder joints. We will also be covering your question on our Live Show Episode 91. It's possible to top wasn't perfectly flat either due to manufacturing defects or not being sturdy enough when people moved it and held by the top portion. The thing then could be misaligned and held by a constant stress by the clips until it popped. If this thing wasn't sturdy, the leg levelers could be misaligned, further putting stress on the glass. It also comes down to how thick the glass was. Things are not liked they used to be. Probably a thinner piece of glass, more prone to breakage.

@arcaderepairtips4 ай бұрын
Since you recently moved the cabinet and the monitor stopped working, there’s a good chance that you are having a connection issue of some sort. We would definitely recommend checking all of the connections again especially the monitor input and power wires to ensure these are all connected properly. Now, there is a chance that moving the game jostled something on the monitor chassis and caused it to stop working. In this case, check out our post on Troubleshooting Games That Are Playing Blind (www.arcaderepairtips.com/2012/05/14/troubleshooting-games-that-are-playing-blind/) for more info on the repair. That panel for adjusting the display settings was moved right behind the coin door in front on the Arcade Legends 2 machine I picked up recently. I'm in the process of upgrading the joysticks and buttons... but all of a sudden, the display itself has shifted over to the right (it is partially cut off now). I've tried twisting the different knobs. Am able to raise/lower the display, mess with brightness/contrast, raise/lower the display... but for whatever reason, no matter which knob I adjust.. I cannot get the picture to re-center again properly. I may have to open up the back and see if there are any more knobs/adjustments I can make back there. what a pain!
@arcaderepairtips5 ай бұрын
So, you should see “some” change when you are turning the adjustments on the “break-out” adjustment board. If you are not, then it could mean that you have a connection issue between the main monitor chassis and the adjustment board OR that the potentiometers on the board are not working properly. Turn off your game and check these items to see if it helps the problem. If the “break-out” adjustment board is hooked up and the pots are working properly, then you may have an issue with your monitor chassis. Let us know the make and model of your monitor chassis and we'll try to help you out further. Hope that helps. We will also be covering your question on our Live Show Episode 89. @@arcaderepairtips Thank you for the reply! It is a Chicago Gaming Co "Arcade Legends 2" machine from 2007. I just had it open recently replacing some button switches that went bad. the "adjustment board" in it allows you to adjust the display brightness, contrast, v position, h position, etc... but no matter how I tinker with it, the display is still off center. I looked inside the back, around the monitor PCB but did not find any other adjustment knobs anywhere.
@arcaderepairtips5 ай бұрын
@@cylotron You might try turning off the game. Unhooking the connector from the remote adjustment board, hooking it back and, and see if that helps. Again, sometimes a bad connection between the adjustment board and the main chassis can cause this issue. You might also try disconnecting the input wires from the monitor chassis and reconnecting them (while the game is powered off) as well. If the picture is still shifted after that, we need to see if we can get some more information about the monitor. You can send a picture of the back of your monitor to us via email at [email protected] if you need additional help.

Seems more like a power or game board issue since the problem occurs with both light guns at the same time. Try checking the voltage when the light guns start going “wonky” to see if it’s still within range. Check the connections on the I/O board to make sure it’s connected properly to the light guns and the main board.
