the story is the richest out of the 3, and i wish they brought back saskia and iorveth for TW3. it would have been a perfect quest when saving philippa that she tell you where “rumours” of an elf and dragon are aka a secret alliance cut dead by her being captured

I'm hoping the first two will get HD Ports or remakes for modern systems. They're still great games and play well, I just want to be able to beat them all on PS5 or buy a complete trilogy set ^^:. There's been at least more time between their original releases compared to Horizon Zero Dawn and its remaster =/.

I adore Witcher 2. Its political intrigue and deep lore got me into the franchise, and I've since read all of the books. I'd say it hasn't aged particularly well, but it was even frustrating when it released. The overall experience (from combat, gameplay, menu navigation, side questing, and leveling) can feel like a chore, but in a weird masochistic way I enjoy that about it. It's a very mature game that demands a mature mind and attention span. There's not too many games out there that tell the player to cater to the game rather than the game catering to the player, so I can't help but appreciate that when it happens. There's no doubt in my mind that Witcher 3 is the superior game in just about every way, but part of me feels it was maybe a bit too accessible.

I absolutely love Foltests character he was such a charismatic character. Talking shit while ballista bolts fall near him and so many one liners, I was always disappointed he died so early haha.

Performance in Witcher 2 is not bad. It's just that you should never turn Super-sampling. It doubles the internal resolution, so if you already play in 4k - it renders at 8k or something like that.

I am surprised you didnt mntion its very interesting art style, more lush colors, vibrance and design of armour and NPCs outfits are soo good. For en example La Vallete aurmour with shoulder guard extending to the face, very unique set of armour.

Letho is the definition of moral ambiguity and arguably the best antagonist in the trilogy. In a world where all the lords, sorceresses and rulers stab each other in the back for power and fortune, the main antagonist is just some guy who wants to help his comrades.

The witcher 3 is way better than witcher 2 but witcher 2 is still an amazing game. The only bad thing about the witcher 2 imo was some of the map layouts were really hard to get around to. I remember I got lost so many times in vergen trying to find out where to go for the quests.

I played it years ago, and it's still in my library. It was one of those deals on Origin, when the Witcher 3 was coming out and they were giving away the original Witcher game and the Witcher 2 was $7.99. I picked both up and played both. Personally I think the story in the Witcher 2 is very good and the game play is good, but like you the in game menu is a bit messy to say the least. The upgrade in graphics from the Witcher 1 and 2 is lightyears apart though, but it is a much older game. The difference in graphics is not as dramatic between 2 and 3 though, but it does have better optimization than TW2.

This game's combat system was a huge disappointment for me. I expected a significantly more refined version of Witcher 1 combat but they just completely removed Group Style and kept almost all annoying parts like weird and slow animations and console style locking. Better than w3 regardless.

Out of everything in this video, for me the biggest thing was decisions made and people met in Witcher 2 having a recognizable meaning and impact in the Witcher 3. Such as Roche, Letho, the conference etc. Whereas if you never played 2 then your interogation/meeting with the Ambassador deciding what the current politics are based on the previous game have no real weight for the player.

I absolutely agree that Witcher 2 should be played. After I played it for the first time, I was glad I gave it a shot. Then I gave Witcher 1 a shot and fell in love with it so much, I would call it my favorite of the trilogy. Yes, the 3rd game is the most polished and replayable with its beautiful vistas, but the charm of Witcher 1 cannot be beat. The remake is sure to cement it as my absolute favorite! All 3 games have their charms, and their stories are so unique :)

I played The Witcher 2 on PC about a year ago and very much enjoyed the story, although I found the gameplay to be quite dated but still decent. Sadly when I tried to start the game again I got some kind of weird required-outdated-external-launcher-that-no-longer-exists kind of error and I didn't get the game to work since (Steam version btw). Either way I don't think the game has to be better or worse than the Witcher 3. It's older, from a previous generation of games and is thus simply technologically inferiour to its sequel. But I still think the Witcher 2 is worth playing because it tells a very interesting storie which takes you to many interesting locations around the rich world of the Witcher franchise.

I've played all Witcher games in order. The first game is the toughest to get into because of how clunky it is and how the story, despite giving Geralt amnesia, doesn't do much to explain things to newcomers. Then I played the Witcher 3 and the added context of what happened in the first changed a lot of things for me. Given the Scoia'tael's actions in the first game, I would never side with them. I was hugely distrustful of Triss, even if in-canon she is a close friend of Geralt. Similarly the events of Witcher 2, having actually played them, colored my perspective in the Witcher 3, such as having a general distrust of the members of the Lodge of Sorceresses or feeling more conflicted about going against Radovid. In fact the last point was actually what almost broke the game for me, I felt like Radovid was a mad King who got innocent people killed, but at the same time he was aware of a threat that not many others realized existed and which could lead to even more death. The events of Witcher 2 do kind of prove Radovid right after all. That whole decision made me put down the game to think about what to do, but I never got around to pick it back up again.

Have You ever played Witcher 1? Its graphics and gameplay are - of course - much, much more outdated. But many, many witcher fans think that it is still the better game if compared to Witcher 2. It has a really unique and serene atmosphere, great humor und a brilliant story.

@@Emperor.Penguin. I played all 3 right back to back and at first i dont liked 1 but after Act 1 it grew on me and i realy had a good time with it. Yea Graphic Voiceacting and the bugs where kinda there but that was there for 2 for me aswell. I just had not very much fun with the second. the Combat tryed to be Fluid but for me it was just very clunky and then There was the letho fight the first one wich broke me not only becaus i suck but how weirdly unfair it was i almost gave up on the whole serires becaus of that game and specily that fight.

Not sure about pc but on console you can choose to simulate a witcher 2 save and then you can pick the choices you made or would have made in witcher 2 and then letho can appear

While Playing Witcher 2 i felt it was a stepingstone between 1 and 3 but mostly with the Worst part of both. It was a very clucky experinece Playing it and at least the Main Story of the Scoiatell path was very forgettable in my eyes. I enjoyed a few Sidequests tho
