@breadyegg Oh that's fabulous to hear about Olsen. We've never seen or heard a bad comment about them, and our Balmoral voyage in Norway was as near perfect a cruise as there can be. Sadly yes about P&O, so we hear.

None of the food looks overly appealing… they obviously tasted better than they looked! Thanks for sharing this. It’s interesting to see what’s on offer
@BritsAbroadTravelCruise12 күн бұрын
It depends of course what you look for in a meal. With Cunard, they know their core demographic are people who appreciate traditional northern European cuisine. Meat, vegetables, sauces.....as would have been served in the past era of ocean liners, and on land in long established hotels today. And actually, it was mostly well executed in terms of presentation and flavour. But for us, there were delights to be found in the buffet such as the sushi station. And, if you see our 'included food' video, then the Corinthia lounge do some amazing snacks, small plate tapas style stuff throughout the day.
@CruisingColemans12 күн бұрын
@@BritsAbroadTravelCruise we’ll have a look at that! The menu options looked really good but it didn’t look quite so appealing on the plate. The fish starters definitely weren’t for us 😂

#Brits Abroad. Thank you so much for your kind reply. I have watched all your QM2 videos and have sailed on her quite a few times and have another coming up in the winter. I mainly do the 26 days plus to the carribean. QM2 is the only ship I will cross the Atlantic in, love cruising but have a fear of the sea. I remember once we were going through the Bermuda Triangle (outside on the terrace deck 8) and the captain came on with his noon update explaining about the myths of the bermuda triangle and 10/15 mins after he had finished his update the power went out and the ship stopped.....everyone in our little friendship group onboard looked at me, as they joked about me not liking the sea... I was absolutely terrified. QM2 restarted after about an hour. Your videos are so professional and the voiceovers are great.... and I don't care about the apostrophe lol. Take care and keep them coming Jennie x
@BritsAbroadTravelCruise13 күн бұрын
That's a fabulous story about the Bermuda triangle Jennie, and we can absolutely identify with the feeling of safety and security you expressed about trusting QM2 with your unease of the sea, and doing the transatlantic. The ship and its crew are all so well equipped for these regular back and forth journeys, so it's little wonder how popular this service remains for those uneasy with open ocean voyages, and indeed, transatlantic flying. We so appreciate your enjoyment and feedback of our work. Especially from a well travelled Cunarder such as yourself. Our hope always is that we can give some insight to the ships that we discover, so that people can decide themselves if a specific ship is right for them. QM2 is in a class of her own of course. That much overused word 'iconic' is actually apt and not at all overused in this case, and its our hope that everyone who peeks inside and around through our videos, will make the effort to experience this historic vessel. Enjoy your next voyage Jennie, and thank you for your comments.

Just found these videos! We are thinking of booking on the Balmoral. Can you have unlimited dishes in the main dining areas? For those of us with larger appetites
@BritsAbroadTravelCruiseАй бұрын
Good evening Lord Vader. We can report that in line with cruise lines everywhere else we have encountered, if you want to choose more than one item menu from each course, then there was no issue with that. Lunch and evening, more than 1 starter, main, or dessert etc each. At breakfast time too, we will often do our customary test of how well they prepare the Eggs Benedict before ordering anything else. And if there is smoked salmon on the menu, then that always finds its way onto the table before ore after any other breakfast item. Also, the Ballindalloch has that remarkable feature of being an MDR with a fully stocked buffet within the dining room at breakfast. And we later discovered similar in the Spey at lunch time! We doubt that you'll leave that ship hungry!

@@BritsAbroadTravelCruise thanks! Very helpful! We are in our 30’s would we feel a bit out of place?
@BritsAbroadTravelCruiseАй бұрын
@@Lordvader1212 That's kind of difficult to answer not knowing what you want or enjoy from your cruise experience. There's no doubt that Olsen's key demographic is the older cruiser who appreciates relaxed, chilled, sailing's, minus the water slides, noisy pool activities, and kids clubs. What they provide instead is a critically acclaimed top quality service from amazing crew, some really wonderful food, and ships that have great outdoor spaces (often missing from newer ships) to watch the world go by, and really enjoy the destinations they take you too. If those last things matter more than the first things, the floating theme park environment found on Royal Caribbean for example. then it wont matter that your fellow passengers are quite old, because you'll find a chilled, laid back wonderful travel experience, if that's what you want.

We would have loved to have travelled in those times. Starters are sometimes the best items on a menu in many places. And we have been known to order 3 as a tapas kind of dining option 🤔 👍 Glad to hear you've had positive experiences of the food. That was our experience too.

This open air market went on and on for blocks by the entrance to the old town, when we were there a few years ago.

That's right. And on the Saturday we visited, we walked a couple of streets away and came into an open square with a magnificent flower market, the town hall, and people enjoying drinks and food around the sides of the square. It really is a wonderful and overlooked Provence destination.....except by the French from the North who love to visit and vacation there.

Thanks for showing the breakfast buffet on QM2. I’ve booked her for my (belated and scenic) birthday cruise off Cornwall in Jun ‘26. I almost always eat at the buffet only on any ship except a deck grill or afternoon tea is served elsewhere. I look forward to QM2. June

Hi and thanks for your comment. The buffet was incredible, and its entirely possible to eat there during your time on board and avoid the main dining room completely. BUT.....if you check out the Included food video we made, you'll see the self service food that's available in the Carinthia Lounge during the day, AND that you can also enjoy afternoon tea back in the Kings court if there aren't tables available in the Queens room.

Hello, I am thinking of booking this ship, L have never been on cruise. The cruise in question from their website is failry full and l cannot find many midship places. Are the cabins at the fron and towards the AFT noisey, vibrations etc. I am sensitive to vibration and constant noise. Another question, if l may , is to ask if on such a big ship, are there places where the noise is lower, quiet spots etc ..... Which decks would you recommend and positions. I know am I asking a lot, but l have no idea lol
@BritsAbroadTravelCruise3 ай бұрын
It's difficult to answer your question fully, but we can say that our experience of that room was that we had no noise or vibration from any location around us or below/above. There is a connecting door however and occasionally a cough or sneeze from those occupying that room. Your best option is to Google search written reviews of the ship. Very often they will contain comments on the location such as "Noise came from the bar lounge on the deck above". And as a rule, cabin locations with entertainment venues above/below can produce noise. And those below the pool decks when sun loungers are dragged out in the morning. We have rarely experienced vibration from the ships giant engines in any ship, but some decks can be effected by it. So again, read as many cabin reviews as you can (and videos, but often they don't feature that kind of detail). Aft and forward of ships are the places where you need to consider the potential pitch of the ship (up and down motion), but frankly, a ship of that size rarely encounters that problem in most sea conditions. Hope that any of that helps. If you have more questions on your first cruise then we will be happy to help if we can.
