Sorry to sound corny,, but your videos,, that means you, lift my spirit,, Mexico is my home and has been 15 years,, a normal human would speak perfect Spanish, but sin embargo, I am slow, not to mention old, I still give it my best, or at least nearly,, not sure what my best is,,,, lol

Literally the video before this with a native speaker : “ you don’t use ser here cause it just wouldn’t make sense ☝🏾” that’s it. I’m like yeah that means nothing to me. After this video, I’ve actually learned a thing. Thanks!

From what I can gather after learning for about a year is that absolutely no one knows what the subjunctive is even native speakers and teachers. Everyone just kind of dances around with it until they finally get it right by listening to it being spoken and trial and error. Lol

Here’s a better rule: Words that end in -O are masc and require el/los/un/unos Words that end in -A are fem and require la/las/una/unas. Memorize the specific cases where this rule doesn’t apply. These are infrequent so there won’t be too many to memorize. Example: EL problema, or LAS manos, La foto (fotografía) Words that end in -ción, -idad are feminine. La ciudad. La television. La verdad.

I’ve been wondering… in written Spanish, I see things written in a way that seems incorrect, at least from an English perspective…but not even. Lol, for example, a word like _acostumbrado_ (used to, accustomed to) may be shortened by removing the D, becoming _acostumbrao_ more or less. The apostrophe, however, I’ve seen placed at the end of the word as well as in place of the D, where it seems it would make more sense… i.e., _acostumbra'o_ since the D is being omitted. But I always see such words as _acostumbrao’_ which seems…like an error? 🤔

Words like _perdido_ are also an example, which may be shortened to _perdío_ -but herein lies the confusion, for me! 😆 When the D is silent, from "-dido" or "-dado" verbs, I often see the written apostrophe placed at the end of the word instead of placed where the silent D would normally be. I also see many people write it with a diacritic (accent) on the preceding vowel, too.. So _olvidado_ I’ve seen written as _olvidáo’_ and _olvidá’o_ …as well as _olvida’o_ -or just lazily, as _olvidao_ 😂
