Thank you so much for this wonderful lesson! You are a fantastic teacher and give great rationale and reasoning behind what and how to do something. This helps so much in understanding the process and techniques you are showing. I’ve learned so much from watching your lessons. I look forward, with much anticipation, to watching your live weekly. Again, thank you. ❤️

Thank you, for again, a great tutorial Shelley 😊 Please don’t feel to bad about the unexpected outcome regarding the effects caused by the masking fluid because that makes this tutorial extra useful, in the way that as students we can see what point our attention on AND also it’s kinda relief that also master pro’s bump into unexpected results. 😊

Thanks for the demo Shelley. When I first started painting I read several watercolor books and it was suggested to paint a symbol for a tree rather than the actual type of tree. So that's what I did. After a few years into painting I'm seeing that there is a lack of diversity and textures not only in my landscape paintings but I see it in many others as well. All the trees look alike! It's like a light bulb went on during your demo.

YES! The drawing sketching process is SO important for me as a beginner and so many teachers race through it without explaining or they do it before the video! WTH? So thank you Shelley. You are the best teacher who knows exactly what to describe and comment on. Your videos are extremely valuable and helpful. You are very patient and generous in sharing your talents. 🙏🧑🎨💃

You are such a great artist and teacher Shelley. I wish you had a Patreon page with even more tutorials. Love how long your videos are. No rushing like other teachers tend to do. You explain everything and describe your colors. Makes me want to learn because you take me through it clearly. 🙏🧑🎨

I am so intimidated by trees, I avoid landscapes as much as possible, but your demonstration has helped to mystify it for me. Just the basic information of take your time and notice the shapes inside a tree.

Thank you for this interesting demo! An exercise to try absolutely ! I have a suggestion for autumn: a still life with apples 🍎 or other fruits, I know that in Ontario you also have the harvest of peaches, blue grapes etc... If ever this idea inspires you obviously! Maybe more feasible for one of your Zoom workshops, it doesn't matter to me, I’m interested !

I love your lessons. I am going to practice this tomorrow. Trees are always stressful to do. Just when I think that my painting looks pretty good, I mess it up with a horrible tree. Thanks so much. I am hoping to linkup with you at a workshop in the next year. Why don’t you come to Thunder Bay?😊

I still think one of the most important things you show is how wet the paper is and then how wet your brush is! Nobody told me to make sure my brush is dryer than the paper or when to dry your brush a little.

I missed you again! As you are doing trees, CAN I SEND A PICTURE? I've a photograph cut out of a very old magazine, of an ancient beech forest in beautiful autumnal copper tones caught in a low misty sunrise. It's in Dorset, England. I've failed to get anywhere with it. I would love to send the image somehow - It's only a small cut out, it's so beautiful, I can't throw it out.

I use ox gall liquid added to my water to prewet an area in preparation for wet-in-wet painting. I live in an arid climate and the water dries too quickly. Adding this in allows me to work a little longer. I really like it.

Hello Shelley, thank you for all your very inspiring videos. One great advice an artist once gave on Utube was never give away your paintings, they won't be appreciated. However, they will be appreciated and cherished if paid for, albeit, if only in buyer's lifetime.
