How come the US was LESS violent when these commercials aired?

I used to quote this commercial on the regular in the 90s and 2000s when it was appropriate, but it fell on deaf years because the younger crowd ever got the reference. Commercials in the 80s and 90s where iconic: stuck to your memory for many years. We had clever jingles, original ads and no forced wokeness. 🍻 ❤️ It was truly a better time for humanity.

The Bryllcream one reminds me of the tube of greasy gunk in our medicine cabinet, which my brothers used to slick their hair down. I have a theory that the reason the Beatles were so revolutionary is that they had loose, fluffy hair that MOVED when they sang. You might say that they started a trend.

This was back in the days when we would laugh at ourselves and not want to commit suicide whenever the smallest joke was made at our expense. We were made of sterner stuff back then and had a thick skin. This generation has become very weak and take everything too seriously.

White liberal women told us all that this was offensive and said to get rid of it. Cue modern day and they're still at it.

Great commercials that show intelligence, humor and artistic talent. I especially remember the "Great American Soup" dance number from my childhood.

I also remember the Ann Miller soup comercial. But, I would have said it was Campbell Soup. Apparently, it was an attempt by Heinz to grab a piece of the canned soup market. Guess it didn't work.

Ok, at first, I was like, take it easy, wokeys, but after watching clip yah, I kinda see it. Made me chuckle though. And humor is a great weapon against bigotry, see "Blazing Saddles. I think you could get away with it today if you made the character a cartoonized version of the chip. But then would that make him a cannibal? Am I thinking about this too much?

Did any of you see the commercials from Canada featuring Mrs. Bingham's Boarding House whose boarders are all guys, one of which is either Scottish or Irish. They are fun to watch too.

Stan Freberg was a genius. I've enjoyed his work since the 60's and he definitely elevated humor to an art form. For your information, chuckiejamochashake, I'm 63 years old and in East Texas. Nyah! 😁

Pepsi Cola used to taste refreshing. They changed the formula and it's disgusting now. I went to Indonesia, in 1993, and they had a bottle of real Pepsi in a basement. When they popped the top it had cork in the cap. I tasted it & went "Wow", It was the original Pepsi flavor which was so great. I recognized it instantly. It used to have a hint of lime.
