Ida Lupino is 100% pure Fire in what- ever She was involved in during a very Male dominated time. I think she put together some truly exciting works. She was behind the camera as well as being a beauty infront of it. Mp

If you don't watch the last 40 seconds of this movie, it's like you haven't watched it at all! Incredible ending! ♥️✨🕊️

Quite a tantalizing story. keeps you in suspense until the last 1 minute!!! Well done! Thanks. Ida Lupino as usual, performs her best just enough to fit the part. The gentleman, he is superb too. I dont know his name.

The character Orin (Robert Nichols) was even more annoying than the unseen Jennifer was supposed to have been! There's nothing at all good about someone who gossips. Especially someone who denies that they do.

I live near Santa Barbara and was surprised to see much of this movie was filmed there. My first clue was the Montecito market, but I thought it might just be a coincidence. Then there's a scene at the Santa Barbara Mission and the estate no mistaking is backdropped by the Santa Ynez Mountain range. I'm old enough to remember the TV series Adam and Eve starring Ida lupino and Howard Duff. And who could forget High Sierra starring Humphrey Bogart and beautiful Ida lupino as Marie. At the end of the movie Marie: Mister, what does it mean when a man crashes out?, Bogart's last words. Healy: Crashes out? That's a funny question for you to ask now, Sister. It means he's free.

Jennifer (Lupino) seems so fearful and anxious throughout the movie that I found it hard to watch.

Can’t go wrong with a James Wong Howe movie or hubby -wife team of Aida and Howard. How come I missed this on TCM? Thanks, You-Tube for making these films noises FREE! TCM is very costly on cable and even streaming! I love Ida as a director too! Way ahead of her time! Dr. Priscilla VanBuskirk, Ph.D./J.D.

Very atmospheric, obviously filmed entirely in a large house rather than a studio - the echoing voices and footsteps added to its reality.

The 19 years old student looks like he's 40... Usually, in the old movies, men seemed or were much older...they didn't fit the reality of characters, the same with asian roles played by white actors...

They had quite the tempestuous marriage. Howard was a good actor, but apparently didn’t have the charisma to make it at the top. He definitely had the charm with women and would have loved to have had a longer term relationship with Ava Gardner, I’ve read. Still it was Ida’s longest marriage and she was devastated at his death. Seems there are few happy endings in Hollywood.

First thing I learned on a guitar was the Peter Gunn theme base lick. I later joined an El Paso garage band as bassist. Back in the early 60s, there was the "Peter Gunn Haircut" and my country barber scoffed when I asked him for it!
