The thing I found the most interesting here is that for all the heat that the Mercury’s took, the way they render skin clearly beats the other lenses out to me. It looks much more natural, especially in the longer focal lengths. I feel maybe they suffered from a bad market position and timing that really spoiled the reputation of the lenses. Other than that though, it would be hard pressed to say if any of these are really that much better than the next. All pretty viable for indie work. Really exciting.

Considering the TTArtisan 56mm f1.8 as an alternative to the Viltrox. Viltrox seems super reliable, especially with fast autofocus, but there’s something about TTArtisan’s style in portraits that looks really appealing in samples I’ve seen. For anyone who’s tried both, does TTArtisan hold up well with natural light and softer backgrounds?

@@charlesucha3751 Righto - I think the issues is that you'd have to do the conversion maths when calibrating! If you're using a 50mm lens on a speedbooster the LiDar will expect a 35mm (or there about) focal length, not 50mm. Other than that, I'm not sure.

How sticky is the V2 LiDAR-enabled ActiveTrack in low light. In theory, LiDAR-enabled auto-tracking would work in the dark, making tracking reliable in variable and poor light. How has your low-light experience been?
@ShaneVanLitz
@ShaneVanLitz Ай бұрын
The LiDar might be able to see well in low light, but the built-in camera used for subject tracking is still a camera with a small sensor. Not really sure how low-light you're looking for but it's been mostly fine in the situations I've used it in.
@myerssamuel1057
@myerssamuel1057 Ай бұрын
@@ShaneVanLitz Thanks - I bought it and did what ZERO KZbinrs have done -- test how low the light has to go before this $700 LiDAR / visible light camera unit fails to track. So far it's not very good for an expensive unit. If the gimbal tracks a subject who steps into darkness and back into light, or walks behind a barrier, or is covered by another human, this "Pro" tracking unit immediately loses the subject and aborts tracking, or starts tracking the wrong person, and someone has to intervene, which is counter to the purpose of automated tracking. Why abort? why not just wait and re-acquire when ActiveTrack sees the recognized subject again? The system is "dumber" than I thought. I'm stuck using it on an RS4 Pro, but I certainly wish it were better.
@myerssamuel1057
@myerssamuel1057 Ай бұрын
@@ShaneVanLitz FYI, I looked into Apple's version of active track (DockKit). First gimbal to use it is Insta360 Flow Pro. I bought and tested at a job -- and TL;DR -- a $150 gimbal with DockKit is FAR better at tracking than DJI's $700 unit. Not promoting, just really surprised. It tracks in extreme low light, tolerates people walking in front of the subject, and tolerates objects obscuring the subject. And when it loses the subject -- unlike DJI's "LiDAR-enhanced" pro tracking -- it simply WAITS and then re-acquires the subject without user intervention, whereas DJI's best product gives up/aborts.
@ShaneVanLitz

Thanks for the review! Tell me please, can I use first the Black Pro Mist Tiffen in front of the lens and then the VND filter with a 16 mm lens? Will there be vignetting if I use this combination with a wide angle lens? I know that first the Pro Mist is installed closer to the lens and then the VND so that there is correct diffusion. But because of the heap of filters, I am afraid that due to the distance there will be the same vignetting as on the Tilt Mirage with their double box (((
@ShaneVanLitz
@ShaneVanLitz Ай бұрын
16mm is very wide with very little room for extra circular threaded filters. Even screwing on a 95mm adaptor ring will cause vignyetting at that focal length, let alone stacking a screw on filter and mattebox. The one I have works because of how far forward it can sit in the SmallRig mattebox and that's a tight fit as it. I think you'll have better luck using a 4x5.65 promist infront of the ND or look at something that can put ND/Diffusion filters BEHIND the lens like the Mofage POCO adaptor or these (They have a few mounts available): kolarivision.com/product-tag/clip-in-sony/
