Nice video Mo! Business Analyst roles come in different flavors like IT Business Analyst, Business Systems Analyst, Business Process Analyst, Requirements Analyst, Business Data Analyst, Business Intelligence Analyst, etc. In order to get your foot in the door, core business analysis and project management skills along with outstanding soft skills are a lot more important. In terms of data analysis skills, I would say good Excel skills, basics of SQL and Power BI/ Tableau would be enough. However, for Business Data Analyst and BI Analyst roles, you got to have in depth data analysis skills like advanced level of SQL, Power BI/ Tableau, and knowledge of Python! In short, BA roles inclined towards data analytics projects require advanced data analysis skills! Ultimately, it boils down to the company and the actual role you are applying for and the BA role is not as straightforward as the data analyst role! 😊

Thanks for sharing! The data analyst role is not that straightforward either. You can be a financial analyst, supply chain analyst, healthcare analyst, HR analyst, so on and so forth :)

Hi Mo, I love this demo, and I'd enjoy to see more of these end to end projects. It's a great way to build repetition and become super familiar with the Tableau platform.

Hi Mo, thank you so much for the video. I'm just wondering how do you come up with all the questions to be answered (e.g. churn rate by age group, churn rate by satisfaction score...) given a set of data in any project (or even in real life). Like, are these questions from the top executives or are there any specific metrics or guideline that help you to do this? Thank you Mo, wish you all the best!

It'll be a mixture of stakeholder interaction and using your own domain knowledge. So basically it boils down to your own experience and knowledge, combined with working with other people/teams.

This video is amazing! I’m so glad I came across it this helped me learn great and useful Excel tips for my work and saved me a ton of time creating charts from the same pivot table with multiple data sources. A typical day without learning this I would spend hours and hours creating multiple charts but now my productivity has increased! Thank you so much, Mo Chen!

I am struggling so much today. I have a PivotTable I am using for invoicing which contains the cost split per supplier against our partners. I have two criteria (partner name and supplier name) so I used 2 XLOOKUP functions, but today a column had to be added to differentiate between offline/online sales, so I need to include an addition to the formula which basically says, if the partner name is X, and the supplier name is X, and the sales channel is online, then take X cost. Struggling so much it's annoying me. Would you be able to help me Mo?

Nice video! You can use the dim date in your YTD sales. You should not use a date hierarchy but create your own date table -- the power bi auto creates hierarchies that only cause problems. Just ask ChatGPT for the date range and fields you want. Magic. @haroldpurplecrowntraining

I am in the similar situation. While my job title is purchasing specialist and I do not have any relevant work experience of being an analyst of any kind, I've been practicing the data analysis skills in my current role. I've created couple reports for our internal teams. So on my cv instead of listing my current responsibilities stated on my contract, I listed all the reports I have done for our internal teams and impacts of these reports. Hope this helps?

@@oliverli7539 This is a good idea! I also wanted to do the same thing, internal reports. I showed an excel report for my boss but he didn't react (forgot it or idk but I didn't want to force him). I think in my current workplace it isn't desired to have such reports. Unfortunately, but it would be some great real life project and practice!

THIS!!!! Exactly, the video I have been searching for months to automate and manage my parts-in-transit. I remember in my first job as an entry level accounts payable - i didnt even know how to do vlook-up or how to use a filter. Then my manager wanted me to take on more tasks and I watched her train me for 2 hours just manually typing the store location # up to 200 lines. It would take her half a day to do that job. When i did it, it took me a whole day, I was miserable. It was easy as she has memorized all the store adresses for 200+ restaurants. I took the opportunity to reaearch and find ways to automate my excel. I created my first 'nested ifs' formula, man, it was about 5+ lines long in the formula bar. My manager one day came back and asked how I managed to finished the work in 1 hour whenever no one could have done faster. Even my controller, CFO, and finance team had bare minimum excel skills. People overlook excel, it has the capability to automate and help with workload. Terrible to see companies function like this everyday and workers are overworked. Great channel MO. Definitely looking forward to watching all your videos and despite the fact you use this as data analyst. Pretty much all the excel funxtions can be used across all Accounting, Finance, and even in supply chain department.

Mo - This is fantastic. I'm trying to land a Accounting Manager role. A friend of mine actually told me to create a portfolio or create some kind of digital presentation of Accounting projects. This is exactly what I am looking for. I have seen very little people in finance and accounting world that only know how to use filters and pivot tables. I thought I was advanced when I picked up powerquery in manipulating data. After seeing your channel, this gives a whole new meaning of advanced Excel skills. I wish companies invest more time in teaching or educating accountants to become an excel expert. Thumbs up to you my dude. I am definitely going to recommend you to my friends and cohorts. 🤓

Might be even faster and better if you use Ctrl + Shift + V to paste values. Considering we use Ctrl + V to paste, a simple Shift might be more favorable since they differ by 1 button and all 3 keys are all in the lower left corner of the keyboard. Possibly easy to remember for a lot of people. 😊 Your friendly Accountant. 🤓
