I’m glad you like the practical content. The difference between social media data analysis and real data analysis is that in real life, you have one goal, and that is to solve business problems. Not to build the shiniest things. If you do and solve the business problem, that’s fantastic. But if you just build shiny and useless things, that’s just social media data analysis.

I recently just learned how to use the pivot tablet and this is a great insight on how to use them in real-time. I'm new to data but I'd love to learn. Curious, do you cleanse the data first before using the pivot table or do you use pivot table to find anomalies for cleaning?

Good question. Data in real-life will never be this clean. I made up this fictitious dataset and I made it clean for this video because I wanted to focus on quick analysis, rather than quick data cleaning. Who knows, maybe I'll make a quick data cleaning video next...

He knows his stuff, but trying to follow him? he's way too quick in showing/explaining what he is doing. so his stuff only good if you are already on his level. especially with all the 'shortcuts' he know/uses.

You don’t have to follow Mo at all. This is just him showing how he uses Excel. As you can see by the title of the video, it’s not a “tutorial for moving averages.” He does that and gives you more tips, like shortcuts. You can see by this entire comment section that people engaged with it. “When everybody says it’s raining and you say it’s sunny, you’ll get wet.”

I agree that this is basic math and basic skills, but you make it seem as though they are difficult and smart. If you were really smart, you wouldn't show off with simple skills and math. I think you may have missed the point of this video. My intention was not to show off, but to make content that people can actually relate to and understand. Sure, I could've cleaned a super messy dataset like the one you'd get at work and spent 3 hours on that, and then move on to the analysis bit - but I thought I'd skip that and simplify my messaging to give people a glimpse of how a real-life data analyst would think.

obviously the data set Mo used was clean and organized already. he just wants to show some "flow of his analyzing process" which is the title of the video (im still learning data analytics and im not mislead by any means)
