Hi! do you still ove this? I wanna use on tablet. looking for online werson of math that teached the oldschool, stacking, traditional way, not the "mental math". do you know if this is the case for this program? I have found some onlibe programs. but when they explain the math on the computer/tablet its explained the new way. I dont like this, if you have any suggestions please let me know. Great review

Teaching Textbooks uses the old way of doing math, not common core. We are using Saxon now with Nicole the Math Lady’s online lectures and grading rather than TT. They are both great programs, but Saxon is more advanced math, more similar to grade level standards, or even a little above. TT is generally about 1 year behind grade level, so you can compensate by choosing the level one level higher than your child’s grade if you choose TT.

Thank you for the tips! 🙌🏾 I’m a first time homeschooling mom of 1. My 6 year old daughter. Keep it simple. I’m excited for this journey. My daughter was breastfed 18 months. So I always wanted her home schooled. We tried regular school for kindergarten but I believe it was a culture shock for her. She loves home school!

i need at least 900+ hours, but it only takes me 1-5 hours depending on the day. Including extra classes and programs like IXL, extra reading and more.) and i’m not sure how to get more hours (8+ at least a day) i feel discouraged since i don’t get enough hours.

Thank you so much. This was so simple. We move a lot… military family so I love that this is something we can put together as soon as we move and still be able to homeschool when we move into a new space. Love it so much.

Thank you so much for this video. I'm a father from the Uk. My partner and I decided that we would be homeschooling our 7 year old son. His not getting on well at school. He will leave all happy, and then we don't know what's triggering him, but something isn't right in that environment. This video will definitely be of a benefit. Thank you once again ❤

How long does it usually take to get through a lesson in that language curriculum? My son has adhd and I’m looking for curriculum that is simple and doesn’t take long to do. We use explode the code and TGTB right now.

I have not heard of 12 weeks on and 5 weeks off! We do year around schooling with 6 weeks on, 1 week off and the 5 major federal holidays off. We are more flexible at thanksgiving and christmas. There is a 2 week break before the new school year starts. I have 7 kids (only 3 are school age) and so I have to be flexible in general.

Luckily i went to schools that started block scheduling in middle. 1.5 hour classes. 4 one day and a different 4 the next. I much prefer this method rather than the same 4 classes daily for the semester and switch the next semester. The former teaches deeper responsibility and organization, and it allows more time to complete daily homework, projects, and studying because you have 2 nights to get it done vs 1.

HI! I am a homeschooling mom in WA too and this is my first year needing to complete the standardized test for my now 8 year old. I was looking at FLO and wanted to ask when you complete your testing? The law says every year so I am assuming at the end of the year to get an idea of progress or in my case a baseline. I am probably over thinking it but since the law isn't super specific on that I wanted to ask what you did. Thank you!
@TheEclecticHomeschooler
@TheEclecticHomeschooler Ай бұрын
The law is flexible, you can do it anytime you want as long as you do it once a year. Probably best to do it at a similar time each year to be able to track progression. We normally do it in the beginning of June and I call it our last week of school before summer break!

The children will do what we do, regardless of what we say. My husband and I are blessed to keep the Sabbath command (without being legalistic) and use the entire day to rest and be in God’s Word. The children see it, and have a strong desire to be like their parents, so I’ve begun making study materials appropriate for them. When you obey God’s command to rest in Him in, on His holy Sabbath, it truly is a “delight”… like the Word says!

But, if you don’t finish the entire math or reading books how does your child go on to the next grade?
@TheEclecticHomeschooler
@TheEclecticHomeschooler 2 ай бұрын
Even in the school system, they never get through the whole curriculum. It’s generally considered that you need to get through at least 80-85% of a curriculum. And then the first 2-3 weeks or more of the next year is generally review from the previous year as well, so you will be reviewing concepts and have time to address if there was a skill that was missed previously.

Definitely check with your state laws to see what you are required to do. hslda.org is a great place to find that info. Most states do not require you to submit a schedule or have anyone checking to see what you are doing, and you have the freedom as the homeschool parent to decide how you want to structure your homeschool. I have a whole playlist of videos that talk about how we have structured our homeschool week to fit everything in if you want some ideas! 😁 Homeschool Planning kzbin.info/aero/PLIJu0FDTIbQnRQCqGLjfYhZth-YnDOthB
