I made the critical mistake of placing a receiving blanket in the crib with my new grandchild because I thought his legs were cold. Of course, his mom comes home and looks at the monitor and the baby had flipped his blanket on his face and had been chewing on it. He is almost 6 months old and can move his arms and grab stuff. My DIL didn't say much about it, I just told her that I was just in his room not long before and no the blanket wasn't on his head; I had just gave him his little blanket for comfort. She calls my son while I'm driving home, and when I walk in the door, I hear my son kind of yelling at my husband, and I'm like, what's going on now? She made it sound like I put a wet blanket over his head. I didn't know that even receiving blankets aren't recommended because of SIDs. When I had my kids, we were told to wrap them up and put them on their tummy. Now my son and his wife are acting like I'm not safe to watch him anymore because of the blanket. I have already felt nervous around my DIL, because I have chronic pain and take medications for my conditions, and have had her grill me 3 times about my medications. Now they're making me sound like I'm not capable of watching him anymore. I was so upset. They made me feel like I was trying to kill him. If they would've told me that there aren't to be any blankets at all in the crib, I would've followed that, but a month ago, they were using a blanket to swaddle him, and so I thought a lightweight blanket would be ok. I only used it that last nap before she came home because I thought his legs were cold. They are already feeding him jarred food, and he's not quite 6 months yet. They've been fighting ever since they brought the baby home because my DIL was always holding him to feed him, and so he wouldn't go to sleep. They finally got him on a sleeping schedule and things were finally going better between them, but my son was already talking about divorce because she's been so critical of the way he does things, yet I do one wrong thing, and they both act like I'm a horrible grandmother. I've already been helping to care for 4 other of my grandkids, and was never made to feel like how this situation turned out. Now my son is like, " I don't have any help." I'm like what do you mean? I just got home from helping you, but now you're saying my help is not wanted because you think my head is in the clouds because I put the blanet in there one time. I did all their dishes, washed all the bottles, swept the floors, and dried and folded all the clothes. I played with my grandson most of the day, and rocked him, and fed him, danced some funny dances that made him laugh, worked on tummy time, and helping him sit up. I had such a fun day, only to be treated like an attempted murderer for the blanket. I do have Fibromyalgia and have Fibro Fog at times, but of course they think it's all because of my medication that they don't believe I need. My new DIL has acted funny towards me and my other grandkids since they brought him home. She seems to have never wanted me to babysit, but only did because they don't have anyone else. They didn't bother even looking for daycare until she was a week from returning to work and so they don't have one because there's none available for another 6 months. There's always so much changing information that it's confusing, especially compared to 35 years ago! I wish she could've spoke to me about it like an adult instead of getting the whole family all upset with everyone screaming and yelling, and now everything I ever did wrong as a parent getting thrown back in my face, after I thought we had already worked through some of those issues, and thought that my apology for the things that I did wrong in their childhoods were resolved, but apparently not.

Someone commented: “how is this different than feeding from your breast”? as a reason that it’s probably not necessary to clean your pump parts after each use, here are some answers: 1. Infections such as yeast can also be transferred from mom to baby from an infected breast, nipple or even hands, bedsheets, etc if baby’s mouth or skin comes in contact with it. Wash your hands before you breastfeed or use a hand sanitizer. 2. Pump parts have “nooks and crannies” meaning crevices that can harbor harmful bacteria, yeast, etc. much more easily than a soft smooth breast. These little creatures then get into dried particles of milk, is usually the means of transmission, much in the same way that food in a refrigerator can still harbor germs and make someone sick. 3. My recommendations are made based on research results which are statistically significant, another word for this is “evidence based”, rather than my own thoughts personally. 4. You are correct that everyone should do what they want, however it’s helpful to make your decisions with current knowledge about how infections are passed and received. The older your baby is, the risk declines as their immune system strengthens. 😊 Love to all the mommas out there! It’s a tough job especially when you’re pumping every 3 hours! ❤ I hope everyone’s decisions work out well for them.

Never have the water run from the faucet directly onto the baby- temp can change fast and burn your baby.

Yes feed baby is best I completely agree different situations some can’t breastfeed but honestly the formula now and days are just not healthy now study’s are out about heavy metals so not everything is a myth but can a child still be healthy and thrive from formula they can but formula still isn’t the best option no matter how you dress it up

My baby is a preemie. The first 2 1/2 months of life she was in the NICU. A large Portion of that time my husband and I weren't able to hold her due to her being so tiny. That killed us as parents not being able to comfort her everytime she cried. When she came home we doubled down on the love comfort and affection. Now she absolutely won't sleep without one us holding her. Thanks for the advice you guys shared be blessed ❤

Hmmm, so women who choose to formula feed aren’t as smart and make poor food choices for themselves and their children 🤔 I’m not personally against formula feeding but I’m not sure you made this any better.

Well it did for some of us struggling so hard to get a good supply in and then stressing over breastfeeding and in turn affecting our milk supply due to stress and the cycle just goes. It’s all perspective. The studies aren’t valid due to the unreliable way it’s done due to ethics…. In conclusion
