A sampler in 2025 where you can't pick the start and end points of chops?!?!?, mindblowing. Trying to help a friend get into using his, the more I learn about it the more I scratch my head.
@HansuMyura14 сағат бұрын
I believe you can hold the FUNC button and select tracks to simultaneously mute or unmute the selected tracks (when releasing the FUNC button), just like the Analog Rytm. That is something I really missed on the DT MK1. I don't have a Digitakt currently, but together with some things you mentioned in the video, that would be something for which I would buy the DT2.
@tarekith14 сағат бұрын
Yes, you can do that on the DT2, I use it all the time as well.
@HansuMyura14 сағат бұрын
@@tarekith Great to hear! I just bought an Octatrack, so I will first have to save again, but good to know. 👍
@bentropy14 сағат бұрын
would a DT2 work for 'live sampling' performance situation, like sampling phrases from a modular or efx send, then looping and live mangling/remixing? Or is the sampling process a bit too involved to be able to stay in the flow of a live groove? I'm tying to decide on it vs a modular sampler like the morphogene or squid sampler or something like that.
@tarekith14 сағат бұрын
There's a way to do it, but yeah it's probably more involved than most people would want for that kind of thing. The Octatrack would excel for that though!

Wait what happened to the gigantinc speakers from yesteryear?
@tarekith14 сағат бұрын
I needed a change. Amazing speakers, but I got tired after 12 years of having these massive blocks of wood towering over me all the time. Wanted to make the studio more open feeling and less oppressive. Sounds weird I know, but it was really starting to get to me. :) The Barefoot Footprint 01's are pretty sweet though, they'll hold me over until I find something better.

Sold the MC-707 ? I'm probing the power of the Elektron sequencer and conditional trigs to not only play the notes, but sequence and modify the Zen-Core engine in real time (through Knob CCs triggering Sys-CTRL 1-4). Sounds promising. Only two boxes.

the Master approves 😌 Elektron being "a little bit cheaper" might be a bit cocky but the other Swedes took it away..

I wasn’t even thinking about TE, there’s lots of groove boxes and such for live use that cost a lot more. MPC Studio, MV8000, ARMKII, OT, etc. Heck my MC505 was almost $1500 back in the day.

You mentioned the Octatrack - can you notice a difference in sound quality? Would you use both together? Love my Octatrack and not sure whether to get the Digitakt 2 … thanks so much and great to hear your insights.

I haven’t compared them side by side, but I don’t think either unit sounds bad or lacking in anyway. I’d be happy to use both together if I had a need to.

I was a huge fan of Note, so having all that functionality in a hardware unit works great for me. I love how well they integrated Capture too, makes coming up with ideas really easy. Full disclosure I was on the beta team for Note and Move, so I admit there's likely some bias there as well.

Inspiring to see how you use these machines! Also saw you had an OP-XY. I'm looking to use a small setup for producing/noodling myself. I looked at a small modular (Intellijel Cascadia) and would like to combine it with a small box that can sequence, sample, mangle, and just be creative with. I'd also like to combine the box to sequence polysynths. The Digitakt 2, Move and OP-XY all looked interesting. Do you maybe have any advice for what to choose for that purpose? Thanks!
@tarekith4 күн бұрын
Honestly I have very little experience with modular setups and CV control, so I'm probably not the best person to ask. I think out of the three options you list, only the XY has any sort of actual CV output functionality though. At least built in.

K I am coming from the electribe2, which is the only other machine experience I’ve had - would you say that the mc707 is a good upgrade? Seems everything lacking in the electribe2 is WAY compensated by the mC707 - everything I need for song development - more complex development, that is
@tarekith6 күн бұрын
The 707 is on entirely different level than the Electribe 2, it’s a huge improvement in every single way except it lacks internal battery.

My whole studio and the creative song making thinking process is based around MC 505. If only it had a sampling feature, I'd never ever even look at other equipment 😂 (yes I know pf SP line and MC 808 & MC 909 but they have a different UI and I don't wanna change my workflow - I can operate my MC 505 in a sleep at near light speed 😂 That being said - thank you so much for sharing your story and your 505 vs 707 comparison

Has there been a firmware update that allow OUTPUT via bluetooth (like your friend's Hyperboom at the pool party) and INPUT from bluetooth/phone (the girl that want's her song played) at the same time or is it still one or the other, but not both?

Do you use compression on your voice as the lip smacks and breaths are almost as loud as the dialogue. Little bit of a nitpick on an otherwise informative video.
