It's not hard to understand that a DSP algorithm trained by a black box learning algorithm wouldn't be able to make use of a higher sample rate, but that doesn't really answer the question about aliasing. Why it's impossible is one thing, why should I not worry about it absence is another.

i gotta say, i really appreciate how you'll show settings that actually make the sound worse, instead of only showing the sound get hyped and improved. no plugin is good at everything, and this is helpful in figuring out where a plugin shines, and where it would be inappropriate.

I've owned V-72a's for 30 years. I wont sell them, but really, they aren't anything particularly special. They are rarely a first choice preamp.
@dj_instruments937

Why. What is a preamp exactly. Distortion? I only ask because you seem smart, and a lot of people/companies included suck at describing tools and what they do or how to use them.
@stevenpagano
@stevenpagano 2 ай бұрын
@@dj_instruments937 there are many much smarter than I am, but to answer your question, the purpose of a pre-amp is to amplify a mic/line signal. Some of them have more of a sound signature than others. API comes to mind for that, but others like SSL are more transparent. There are some boutique companies building exceptional ones, like Tree Audio. The V-72 isn't bad at all, it's just somewhat neutral and uneventful. Others will disagree.

RE: Aliasing. The real problem is masking in a dense mix where instruments are either buried or too loud, causing eq futsing about and many headaches, when compression and saturation is intended and used itb to help overcome masking. Aliasing is Not causing a new problem. It is making worse an already existing problem . The resulting Timbre deletion from aliasing is practically undetectable/ inaudible in a single instance/channel. Compounded aliasing from multiple plugins cascaded bussing where all audio sources are aliased 5 times and the aliasing is aliased 4 times, the cumulative enharmonic/dissonant deletion of timbre causes the richness of timbre to actually decrease. Also, drums are not very harmonicly dense , aliasing doesnt affect perception of them much. Its the sustaining instruments and voices that can get lost more easily in the mix. Cumulative timbre deletion makes masking worse in a big dense mix. This is the exact oppossite of what harmonic saturation does for us in the analog domain and what we all love it for. A visual analogy would be a translucent image like a gray ghost that you can see through versus an opaque image like a real person in the sunlight. This also explains why so many can mix better and claim its easier and faster on a console with analog hardware. They arent fighting aliasing.

Good o'l Goliath!.........haven't used it in a while but this reminds me how good it is!. I always loved that the presets (alloy, tube, tape, vinyl) had very obvious character differences....nothing subtle!. All are very useful depending on the context. I never had a problem with the previous version's performance (I'm on a PC, Win10 Pro), but if 3.3 makes it even better, then game on! 😉👍

@gdayal9

It is autogain .. and it works certainly .. level matching can never be perfect with compressors as the incoming audio and models are dynamic , the intensity fader pushes gain into to the compression processing , with the AG off , one would have to keep using the trim knob at big changes .

@@gdayal9 Windows 10, Intel i8, 64gb ram, Reaper, Bitwig, FL Studio 24. i thought maybe contacting you here you'd give me a more concrete answer you are going to do something about it. i've sent you a few support requests and none of them really acknowledge the issue. also, why do all your ML models have very steep rolloffs in the low frequencies and high frequencies? they are completely out of phase. i thought maybe it was the case because most of the models thus far were tubes and tube circuits sometimes do not have the best phase linearity, but it's also present on the APX 351 and the Pythor. i've never used the Ampex tape pre that is modelled on, but i have rented a Pye for a couple of acoustic recording sessions and that thing is tight right the way across the spectrum and phase, so it's definitely some flaw in your modelling approach. would be nice to see if you could alleviate it and also get the oversampling working on your non-ML plugins. i know you are aware of it, or maybe not since none of you seem to really respond to peoples issues with your plugins on forums and such, and your own support is kind of useless having sent multiple support requests and got nothing i could consider support. this is not just my experience either. i've read similar frustrated experiences from people on Reddit, KVR, and Gearspace

These marketing terms 😀 "world’s first real-time Machine Learning / A.I. based audio compressor plugin". You make it sound like it's constantly using AI to adjust the compressor. "Comes with a set of professional presets." Who needs "professional" presets? Who "designed" them? AI? 😀 You claim to have Auto-Gain compensation, but you can't level match your own demos?

How compares to waves kramer PIE
@sabothawk

This is a super impressive plugin and a welcome addition to the dynamics software industry! Sounds to me like it has nice "smack" similar to a VCA, but more stable decay like a FET; PWM methodology is apparently really hard to do well digitally because sound is stored as a series of discreet samples at a frequency much lower than PWM compressors usually use to work -- as far as I know, Wave's PIE is one of the only other attempts at PWM compression out there at the moment! Great work!

Hey G, appreciate the updates. Thank you. Just wanted to drop some feedback that I’m hoping you might take into consideration: I’m finding that the silence which is being inserted in some plugins is a bit long when you change parameters, which hurts workflow. I’m referring to: the APX 351 v2 ‘hard/soft’ switch, the Valvekult 2 ‘Drive Types’ and ‘OVD’ switches, and the ResQ ‘ANTP’ switch, the filter enable switch, and eq band enable switches. Lastly, the APX 351 v2 Output knob feels like it isn’t making too much of a volume change, even when pushed hard right or hard left. I doubt it’s just me to have noticed these things. I believe in Tone Empire and want these plugins to rock just as much as you do.
