State agencies are worse than federal. They operate like the Mob's extorsion racket. There is nobody to stop them from doing it. Worst part is, its friends, neighbors and family that work the jobs that does this to us.

I moved to Eastern KY and had to install a septic. It was an unexpected costly expense. i am not off grid but they refused to remove the smart meter and replace with analog claiming I would not have any electricity.

That just means you have to do your research on where you buy. Every county is different. There's no driveway, foundation or framing inspection and no setback requirements from the road in our county.

Look into a Harbor Freight trencher and do your own septic system. Also some of the no gravel chamber septic systems seem promising (no experience with those, but I do own a trencher and I love it). Good luck!

In 2021 I paid 3500$ for my first and only RV, she was a 1979, 35-footer, bought it at an auction and lived in it for one year with my wife to get by. She was a tough old thing. Was mint and very well-built. VERY STURDY. Now I use it for parts storage. After that going to make a log hauler out of it. My boss just bought a 100000$ new 30-footer. It is a piece of garbage. With some new appliances, I'd take my old one over it.

Did they make you move out every six months or could you use the address as a permanent residential address? Just curious. thanks
@voidisyinyangvoidisyinyang88515 күн бұрын
Wow an RV gets tax assessed as a dwelling? OH so that means it would trigger the "seasonal recreational" tax assessment as a structure? Crazy. That's some sneaky stuff there. RV is technically a campsite like a tent. A tent would never get tax assessed as property - unless it's a yurt. ... So they claim an RV is a campsite but then they go no - it's a structure since you are living in it as a seasonal residence!! Wow. Just another loop hole to know about.
@voidisyinyangvoidisyinyang88515 күн бұрын
great details on RV depreciation! thanks - I saw people commenting about this. Didn't realize how bad it was. I would never buy an RV anyway. Just good to know. Also the whole "my RV is better than yours" mentality in the so-called RV camping scene? Hilariously tragic.
@voidisyinyangvoidisyinyang88515 күн бұрын
Sorry that you tried to be decent and had this happen. I have called up county planners and I have been very skeptical - and I never "pulled a permit" since I knew not to trust the government. hahaha. It sucks. As of now I don't need a permit for seasonal campsite and so I will keep it that way! You have convinced me bigly. I asked them about composting toilets - the STATE pollution regulator said is there no discharge? I said "No discharge" then "no permit needed." OK but the county planners insist any composting toilet in a structure is a privy and a privy permit needs an engineer designer or something stupid. So I told the county planner - I just camp occasionally and I put it in a shelter. He didn't know what to say to that. hahahahaha. So now I am building a year-round pallet-wheel camping trailer shelter that will have a wood stove in it for my composting toilet. Yes we get very cold weather and that's my main priority - not freezing. hahahaha. What else? Yeah so the zoning and tax assessment are different things. I am zoned for no permit for seasonal camping. But the tax assessor would probably change me to "seasonal recreational" thereby requiring me to have a permanent address somewhere else. That gets you into the whole - car license RealID tracking system now post-9/11. So the Patriot Act made it illegal to be poor. I would try to NOT get a Real ID and hope that I can have a mailing address somewhere that is digital and not a PO box - but if that gets rejected then I would be forced to get domicile in a nearby state that is RV "continuous or full-time traveler" friendly. "In most cases, yes, even a gravel driveway will likely require a driveway permit," - dang that's disgusting really. They really do micromanage your property.

The problem is not only did this fellar' make a major fuq'up by asking any bureaucrats for permission slips to build and homestead, and going about things like the Yankee City Slicker he obviously was, but he must be in Metropolitan Louisville or N.KY/Cincinnati or Possibly Greater Nashville for those stacks of permission slips to even exist. The parts of the state that are still culturally still KY' don't need no damn zoning or codes, and if any of that crap did exist in the real KY, it would only be for those that are arrogantly dumb enough to go such tyrants and beg them for such forms of abuse.

Washington State is just like what you describe only 1000 times worse. Do not understand why so many people are moving here it is such a communist state. We are thinking Kentucky was good and where we wanted to go soon. The septic design and install was $50,000.00 and no you are not allowed to do it yourself to save money. This is a huge corrupt money grab racket in King County. King County is the worst others are bad but not as bad as King County. Try to be your own contractor and they will make your life so miserable. They will fail everything you do endlessly until you "hire" someone. Everything else electric, water, home placement, how big the house for where it is located they decide not you, on and on and on it goes. All corrupt graft with equally expensive over priced regulations and tradesmen. Plus it takes them more than a year to get you the coveted permits for every single thing in the building process. Then you wait for weeks for them to inspect before you can move on to the next building item. Get this, we were forced to build everything according to their "Green Agenda" and within 2 years the house was full of mold between the walls and the siding. Not a tradesmen issue. An engineering issue caused by the states "Green Agenda". Of course it is our issue, the county will do nothing. Nor will the contractor we were forced to hire. No help after they forced us to build according to "their regulations". Lucky hubby is a genius and put in vents every 16 inches and saved the home. Some counties are better than others but still all way to controlling. The entire scam is all for the graft it creates for them to steal the funds. What we will do in the future. Buy a house with a well and other grid features that has gone through the permitting. Install all the off grid features "without" permits. They can't keep you from using alternatives and turning off their grid. Then when the power goes out and they leave you without their coveted grid for a week or two in the dead of winter you are set. That is what we have done here and love it. Plus when we go to sell there is no issue with price or loans everything is hooked to the grid for the people who have no interest in off grid living.
