How i was taught in Beijing, head and eyes follow the leading hand. Tongue touching the roof of the mouth. If your body stops and arms and hand keeps moving (peng) is lost. The circular movement now has a abrupt end. Movement is created by sinking into the pelvis in a falling manner akin to cutting down a tree and taking the wood away. The movement is regenerated to the other side through a ball being contracted and expanded from the diagram. The tummy hollows and expands creating a figure of 8 movement. This similar to the way a bird or butterfly lifts from a branch. Repitition repetition repetition. The answers come.

Good simple process, basis for beginning cloud hands. There is much more spiraling, folding kwa, expanding and subtle ascending the arm before descending. And then total integration whilst stepping.

What is the point of this? There are wonderful videos of Professor Cheng doing the form on KZbin, so why leave another poorly executed, fanciful interpretation here?

This in another example of someone doing the form. A current person not wearing wide pajamas. I can see his body. This version has words of description. (You sit in judgement. I hold no position.)

Excellent video, it's always inspiring to see genuine form practice and clear demonstration of postures, transitions and hearing a few key points explained. I love this form and practise it daily, I was taught this particular form in the late 80s, although with a slight variation (the 47 step form as taught be Dr. Chi Chiang Tao to my teacher John Kells). Clearly, the principles are common to all Tai Chi styles, only each player interprets and executes them slightly differently. I can appreciate that around ten thousand hours of practice would have gone into producing a performance of this quality. Thank you for this upload.

How come all the demonstrations for Cloud Hands on youtube look different? Different schools / lineages? Or is Cloud Hands the name of a whole set of different movements?

Thank you Dear Brother <3 I do feel the difference doing Qigong Its nice to have this access online . I did have a Tai chi Qigong master spoke no English yet I understood every thought he was thinking and when I finally got a translator he said I read his mind exactly After that he distant himself from me I was very sad, it was so empowering practicing with him outdoors as the Sun rise in this wooded area in Irvine California I did not take it personally he is in his 80 + Fit as Fit can be elderly and is focused on his wife lost ill surprise him some time soon must practice I believe he was and is has AMAZING PEACEFUL POWERFUL ENERGY

Great video! One thing I would suggest is to reduce the quantity of instructions a little with each repetition of the sequence so that key words can guide (maybe drawing attention to a different aspect each time) and the last of the four to be fluid with no instruction. If people need to go back to full instruction, they can repeat, but they can also watch and engage their 'mirror neurons' with less or no verbal distraction.

So we should visualize and actually "see" all that stuff along the process-white light pumping hart, circling light...everything... I would say yes,but its no harm to ask. There is no too many teachers in my place, some of them connected to yoga and stuff ,what is rather religiously versed and quite tendentious, alluring (to certain profile of people) and potentially manipulative and its not my choice, but this is. Asian style and teaching I like....:)

The lineage of this Tai Chi programme comes directly from Cheng Man Ching though Master Huang Xingxian, Patrick Kelly and Luke Shepherd.

I agree with harroman42. And I did demonstrate the form and uploaded it, but I doubt you'll learn anything from it, but that's OK. Some exercise is better than no exercise.

Jim O'Callahan it was interesting seeing your video. It confirms to me that there are many interpretations and versions of this lineage around. Our lineage is direct and comes via Master Huang and Patrick Kelly, yours is a branch from the same tree. Perhaps you'd like to come to one of our workshops with Luke Shepherd? He has over 30 years experience. Best wishes.

Jim O'Callahan and harroman42, don't you guys think you are exaggerating just a tad bit much? Huang, version of Cheng tcc, is just fine. If you cannot see that, it tells more about your own form play, then anything else, just saying.
