@@konepolska If you’re planning to use the lock with HomeKit, I recommend going with SwitchBot. It’s very reliable, unlike the Anona, which I’m still having issues with under Matter. Anona works great if you use their app and, in my opinion, is the better-looking option.

I use this automation for my home office and want to use it for our master bathroom but the problem I am having is the presence sensor can't tell if someone is in the shower. So it turns the lights off mid shower. UGH Any tips and how to get around this?
@chdoors2 ай бұрын
Yes, you need to put a water leak sensor in your shower
@EdgarsHomeTech2 ай бұрын
Hi, I was concerned I would have that issue myself, but having glass in the shower helps. Even if the glass fogs, the sensor can still detect movement in the shower and keeps my light on. It’s never failed.
@financestoart75183 күн бұрын
Get a door sensor. If the door is closed, keep the lights on. If door is opened, then lights turn off.
@IkariaPower2 ай бұрын
And what about the humidity in the bathroom? It won't damage the sensor at some point? I have 3 of them (FP2) but I’m afraid to put one in the bathroom!
@EdgarsHomeTech2 ай бұрын
Hi, that’s a great question! I’m not entirely sure. I’ve been using my FP2 for a few months now, and there’s been no damage so far. Aqara claims on their website that it can handle humidity up to 95%. I’ll be keeping an eye on this closely. Thanks!

Lovely automation! It wouldn't work for me though. My bathroom has a skylight and gets daylight all day long, so fixed times wouldn't work because it does not get dark at the exact same time every day. Or every season. So I use a Philips Hue motion sensor which is also a Light Sensor so I added the condition of turning the lights on, etc... ONLY when it's dark
@EdgarsHomeTech3 ай бұрын
Nicely done. I don't have any automation or conditions based on lighting, but I'll consider it in the future. Thank you for watching and for the idea. :)

Hello! Which smart plug do you use for your Washer and dryer?
@EdgarsHomeTech3 ай бұрын
Hello, I use the Eve Energy smart plug with energy monitoring on my washer. For my dryer, I don’t use a smart plug because it runs on 240V. Instead, I use an NFC sticker as a way to remind me when the dryer is done. Check out my video if you’re interested in how to set that up. Here’s the link to the video: kzbin.info/www/bejne/eJucmHyKa8t4msk.

Does thread means it extends your wifi signal to other devices or do I still need a wifi mesh? Also, if thread doesn’t extend the wifi signal and I have smart lock that is out of range for wifi, would I still be able to control it remotely through my home app?
@EdgarsHomeTech3 ай бұрын
That’s the beauty of Thread technology-it creates a mesh network independent of your Wi-Fi range. This means that even if your Wi-Fi doesn’t reach the back of your house, Thread devices (such as Thread routers, smart plugs, bulbs, and more) can extend the signal, ensuring coverage in those areas. Thank you for watching!

Did you communicate with the manufacturer, your thoughts about what would improve this product? If so, were they receptive and willing to improve their product to make it more enticing and useful to their customer base?
@EdgarsHomeTech3 ай бұрын
In my opinion, this product could be improved by adding Thread support. If they release a smaller, round version with Thread at the same price point, it would be a solid buy. Personally, even though it uses Matter over Wi-Fi, I’ve had a pleasant experience with this plug so far. I can’t remember the last time I encountered a ‘no response’ issue. Thank you for your comment.

Looks like a nice lock, the only thing I can think of though is that’s it’s such a shame they went for WiFi only connection, 2.4gHz only to add insult to injury. I love how it looks designed very sleek and nice solid looking. Would’ve definitely picked it up if it were Thread rather than WiFi. WiFi is a hard pass. Not only is it power hungry, but it’s also IMO more susceptible to a variety of interferences.
@EdgarsHomeTech5 ай бұрын
I agree the lock looks nice. I do wish, like you said, that it came with Thread instead of Wi-Fi due to the potential for more interference. Personally, I am okay with the batteries lasting “up to six months,” but time will be the judge of that. I do like how companies are releasing easier battery compartments using magnetic covers for easier replacements. Thank you for watching and for your comment.

I really wish the round one were smaller. I personally kind of like them in that style, but unfortunately, I don’t think it’s possible to make them small enough to fit next to each other.

True, I’m excited for the upcoming update to iOS 18. You will be able to place your button where the camera or flashlight buttons are located. This will make it even more efficient, better than swiping. Thank you for the comment!

Can you lock and unlock the lock via WiFi? Or it has to be in Bluetooth range?
@EdgarsHomeTech4 ай бұрын
My apologies for the late response; I didn’t see your comment until now. The connection depends on the range between your phone and the lock. If you’re within range, it will connect via Bluetooth; if not, it will switch to Wi-Fi. Thank you for watching!

Thanks for the review. I’m coming to realize that when there’s a choice, Matter over Thread should be selected over Matter over Wifi. WiFi is too dependent on the coverage/quality of your WiFi network…most WiFi smart devices today are limited to 2.4ghz instead of both 2.4 and 5.0ghz availability…too many WiFi based devices being added could overwhelm the network. If WiFi goes out, at least the Thread network is designed to still operate.
@EdgarsHomeTech6 ай бұрын
First, I want to thank you for your comment. I understand what you’re saying and I agree. Additionally, I believe that there will be more Matter-over-WiFi devices in the future due to the bandwidth limitations of Thread.
