Man, get OVER the Hurricane. If you want something like it use a Hydra. It has the added benefit of being semi independently maneuverable and it ignores most point defence, plus it splits shield focus. Sorry that all your builds are broken because one weapon is nerfed. Maybe try better builds.

Honestly if you can only make your fleets work at 1000 DP, your fleets suck. Your perspective on what normal Starsector is has been skewed. Nothing about 1000DP even resembles vanilla, so this isn't a vanilla tier list. This is a modded tier list with vanilla ships, not a vanilla ship tier list.

You know, considering this is your first EVER souls game, it's quite impressive seeing you parry enemies without even using lock on. Is not using lock on a choice btw? Didn't see it once this whole video and some fights are really wonky without it. I can't even imagine fighting a single dog without lock on. And yeah the balance is all over the place, some weapons, spells or ashes of war are quite powerful, so it might seem you suddenly became overpowered. My advice to this is always: if you're doing too much damage to a boss - equip a weaker weapon; if the boss healthbar barely moves, walk away and try later. There's no shame in using any tools the game gives you, even abusing AI (which is the true souls way). The most important thing is you enjoying the game. Love the editing style, you're showing off important moments while providing addiitonal info and joking around. Smart that you've decided to make the pace a bit faster, otherwise this video would've lasted 3 hours at least.

You can balance the game by making more skilled officers more expensive and less loyal. Why listen to you when I am better at this than you? Therefore, highest skilled officers end up becoming commanders or sub-commanders where they have enough agency either to break off to form their own faction or can be persuaded to turn on their own faction, maybe to take over, maybe to secede or maybe if you are wealthy enough or influential enough to join you for the right price.

some tidbits: 1: ideally your 1st colony should almost always be an habitable world that if possible wantsto have at least farmland, but ideally has at least famrland and organic deposits. This is because having these resources in the same spot, asllows you ot have a straight progressiontowards profit, whihc helps in a 1st colony where you are not gonna profitable for a while. 2: the ultimate goal of a powerful colony setup is to secure all base resources(Food, organics,ores, transplutonics and volatiles) and trade goods in faction, this is because as you start meeting your demands in faction you lower overall upkeep costs and if you can secure all resources in faction, your overall upkeep on all colonies is Halved(it also makes you more resilient to disruptions if you dont depend on other factions.) 3: if possible you want ot keep your polity contained in one system, tho unless you want ot optimize the fun away this is likely not possible, because securing all rersources generally need at least 3 planets(and habitable world with farm and organics,, a mining world with both types or ores ideally with no atmosphere, and a gas giant for volatiles) at worst you want ot keep these in the same constellation, this is both for safe trade routes and for defense as Patrols can overlap. these conditions on the planets also maximise Domain item compatibility. 4: hate from the pirates and luddic path are inevitable, pirates pester you for being profitable, the luddics pester you for being developed whic hahppens no matter what, in the vanilla game there is nothing you cna do other than stamp their basedown as they pop up. 5: using AI should be taken in only 2 paths: none at all, or go all in, this is because any usage of AI WILL put you in a collision course with the hegemony, that while you can avert thie confrontation for a while thru bribery it eventually becomes unsustainable as biring inspections costs Story points.

Don't underestimate the kite. You can put reapers on them and put those reapers exactly where you want them. If you want them to be really interesting, you can up the maximum fleet capacity so you can have multiple waves of ships, hit and run tactics. Have a wave of reaper kites swoop in and destroy key ships in the enemy fleet and then retreat when they are out of ammo. Then call in your main battle fleet.

I would say that to get a better match up, you should pair 3 ships against 3 ships instead of 1v1 when comparing missiles ships. They have high burst but low sustain so you need enough mass power to do permanent damage in order to see their effect. 1 dragon fire torpedo damages shields. 3 dragon fire torpedos blow up the ship and then you have a 2v3. I usually give the griffon a squall and use it in a support role. It's job isn't to kill but to keep the enemy off and add to the pressure of the ship in front of it. Given all of this, PD is still a little too much right now.

4:41, issue with the falcon imho is the type of slot it gets dont mesh with hte OP you have available and dont offer enough in specialization in any path. however the Pirate Variant of the Falcon is an amazing ship because its medium slots become missile/composite slots, missile have less of a OP debt and because the Falcon P can get 4 laubchers this free up OP that would go inot flux...and one of the bettthings you can add this this fast attackcruiser with that OP is a support fighter bay.

The retribution has recently taken my top spot as flagship from the Atlas Mk II. YEAH THAT'S RIGHT I SAID ATLAS MK II, WHATCHU GONNA DO ABOUT IT?! "D-tier" my ass. Two mjolnirs become FOUR mjolnirs when I fly that beast; I face onslaughts in an atlas Mk II on the regular and come out on top. Also, no mention for the Falcon(P) variant? Four medium missiles on a cruiser may not be impressive right now, but that can be a LOT of spam for the deployment points. Also also, seeing builds without maximum vents hurts my soul.

I think the topographic data as a repeatable reward is fine; the real rewards were the slipsurge and reverse polarity anyway. The data is just something to keep rewarding you as you use slipstreams and scan stuff. I DO love the retribution though; I fear it may be nerfed in future patches because it's capable of some truly absurd plays.

when it comes to the abilities, at least a year ago when i played, i only ever really did the utility scavenger line and logistics one. Relying on player combat just felt rough and unoptimized overall. I saw you had the same problem before when you didn't play for the objectives in battle, it just leads you to not fielding more ships, your capitals will just get swarmed. Large ships are just bad from my experience and it's better to use destroyer midline tactics with a handful of more expensive long range ships to beef up combat. i remember using the 14th battlegroup brick destroyer (can't remember name but it was just Brick, i'm sure you know what it is). nothing fancy, just armored brick. The point of those things was to soak up damage and pester the enemy. my idea was to build a balanced boring fleet of useful midline ships with i think 1 primary capital ship piloted by a good officer (i just sat in an omen as my character was useless as i never went combat skills finding them useless overall as the game isn't just combat). Note: if you go out exploring with that Dmod removing passive skill, almost any ship you take with you will be cleansed of Dmods by the time you return. It is extremely broken for getting a nice working fleet in order. If you only play the game for combat well, personality difference i suppose. I'm much more the exploration scavenge type and battle only as a side minigame.

It really is funny being recommended these travel vids when I mostly just watched your Starsector content, I might even like them more, they're weirdly wholesome and comfy. Also for anyone being surprised there are neighbouring countries which don't speak the same language but can understand each other perfectly, take a look at former Yugoslavian countries. There's 6+ countries in that area that can all speak with each super easily yet all of them have their own language, and some have completely different alphabets.

Officers having an edge over non officered ships is fair. They are a heavy investment. And if they are not having their significant impact on the game, the challenge of the endgame is totally lost, along with the chaos of the possible outcomes of encounters. It would destroy the immersion of the game, as the endgame would melt into a straight, non challenging path to beat with your stick, that is going to be the same all the time. And that is how most games die out.
@khaoscualdawath

The good old spam of capital fortresses is kind of over. The closest you might be able to do is some capitals with long range capable escorts that can fully disable or defend against flanking and or missiles and fighters. The updates of the ship and officer AI, the ship and armanent updates have made the game really challenging the last 2 years...

I feel like you're judging the Gryphon unfairly. It's not made for dueling and face tanking. It's fantastic for swatting small craft and pressuring medium and large ships, while you send in the assassins. The autoforge is glorious for sustain when fighting outnumbered. You also absolutely need to try high tech frigates. Get wolf pack tactics and 8 aggressive officers. Stick them in Hyperions, Scarabs and Omens. In my last engagement, I had a Scarab and two omens piloted by the AI take out a Mora and an Eradicator, with almost no direction.

I still don't think graphics are important at all. I think aesthetics are. Not art direction, Big Mouth cartoon has art direction, to keep everything in line. To keep everything disgusting looking. If there were two versions Civilization IV, the one that already exists, and one where even a single unit, let's say the settler, got changed from the universally pleasant look he has, to yet another 2024 hooknose schnozz hollywood standard approval face... then even though the gameplay and everything is the same. I will not switch versions to that changed version. It's also the reason why I don't play LGBT games, because LGBT optics are gaudy and awful. It's not without reason why some art just looks 'tumblr' or 'gay' (or both) You can high def render a pride parade drag queen at 4k with raytracing on, in a beautifully rendered environment. I will not play it, I'd rather play the same thing if the character was replaced by a generic scarecrow, rendered at low poly. Because aesthetics matter. If you changed tetris blocks to turd shapes, nothing about the gameplay would be changed, but the game would be ruined through its aesthetics. And aesthetics scale from low pixel to high definition.

Meh...hyper space stuff doesnt really factor into too much. End game involves Jumping via jump gates and building your own jump gates. As far as the skills go and officers....you will need those skills and officers for end game or high diff factions using Nexelerin.. In point of fact, I do use a mod for skills that does change the functionality of almost all of them in some manner. Its balanced against the fact that the AI can get more officers then i can, and has a better chance of having additional pile on fleets most times during exploration. In nex, youre fleets will def be able to defend your system without your own involvement...unless its a gigantic swarm of ships coming for you..in which case you need Fortresses and stuff built on your planet to help you repel ground invasions lol.

A word on a Gryphon and other missile ships... I actually had some decent success with Pilum spam. Now that Pilum has a large variant, it became a surprisingly viable and I just slam medium and large pilums wherever I can. And the benefit is... AI can safely go stupid with them, as they just don't run out. It is not going to be your main weapon, but it is getting the job done, providing constant pressure on the enemy and surprisingly decent damage output when it actually lands. As for the small ships. Lashers are fine as far as frigates go. Monitors are an S tier meme ships - these things just never die and soak up stupid amounts of damage. Centurions are basically very hard to kill PD boats - they don't kill much, but protect other ships from fighters and missiles well, and they themselves basically never die. Hyperion is fantastic in the vacuum, but just too expensive in my opinion. Omens are stupid good, so are the Tempests. Scarab is a hilarious ship because of its temporal field or whatever it is called - basically, turns whatever weapons it has into miniguns, while also moving stupidly fast. Medusa is like a bigger Wolf. It is good, especially if you slap a couple of needlers onto it, or pack it with ion weaponry.
@Teixas666
@Teixas666 25 күн бұрын
the issue that folks seem ot miss with the Gyphon is that its not meant ot be a frontliner and it has an excess of OP that can be abused. you'd want ot slap on long range munitions , or missiles meant for sieges and because missiles in general have less of an OP tax, you have free room ot include trinkets like a fighhter bay(that could have something like a Xyphos wing in order to abuse ion beams)
