Generally South Asian food is marketed as Indian food. It's not necessarily Indian. For instance most Indian restaurants in the UK are owned by Bengalis and Pakistanis, but it's marketed as Indian food. Usually the food is mainly Muslim food, but nowadays more diversity is becoming available. Before people were not aware of the differences, so restaurant owners found it easier to just call it Indian food, due to influence of British rule.

Regarding the hijab girl working in the restaurant, what they tell you is not wrong, but not entirely right also. If there is a hijab girl working in the restaurant, its most likely a halal restaurant, but do not have the halal certificate due to few reason. 1) not easy to get 2) if they serve alcohol, they will not get Halal cert, even if the ingredient for the food is all halal. 3) it takes a lot of process to get halal cert, which why some may in the process of registering. 4) you cannot simply put halal cert in your restaurant without proper authorities approval or you can be fined a lot, even if all your ingredient are halal certified supplier. the motorcycle need to be a bit noisy in Malaysia because it is consider as a sound warning for the cars. Since they ride quite fast, by having a loud sound motorcycle, the cars knows that there are motorcycle next to them, either left, right or at the back. And due to the way they always change lane, its serve as a reminder to the car when they cannot see blind spot.

In Msia or menu it will have the Halal logo & the logo must be authorised certificate from Jakim...Msia Islamic authorities....& some of the place in Msia a little bit dirty however overall it's clean....however in China because of the cold weather....the toilet the smell of the urine is strong & as we use water to clean,it's difficult in China & the halal logo also hard to find....a eating halal place they also sell alcohol ....& still there's a lot of beggar there & be careful of sellers that will scam you especially at tourist places....
