Very good video, I like the clear explanation for the removal process. Did these parts not come with instructions? The lower arms have to be installed with the angle bend down and the short end towards the axle to provide clearance for the axle articulation. Great camera angles for a clear view of all the steering parts and installation.
@slothfabgarage8233
@slothfabgarage8233 5 ай бұрын
the arms do not come with instructions. while it is typically easier to install with the bend down, i personally like to install the bend up in order to gain more clearance in my builds. the small amount of clearancing required on the shock mount is worth the effort for me personally. but that will vary for each individual

@GuitarTalkunedited as far as from the intake alone? not really, though im sure it does help with fuel economy and response a LITTLE bit. i believe it is best when its paired with other things like an intercooler upgrade, a full delete, upgraded injectors, upgraded turbo etc. i have done a full delete at this point and i believe it is very helpful for the performance of that

it is slightly less necessary due to the longer wheelbase and thus driveshaft and reduced angles, but you will run into the same issue at some point, my guess would be with about 1 inch more of lift than you would with a TJ

What did you do about the fuel/brake lines that run along the drivers inside frame rail? At 17:45 you mention routing them up and over the top of the upper link. Was there enough room to do that without the arm articulating up and crushing those lines?

Ive looked through a ton of videos trying to get Ideas for my 94 chevy 4x4 and they a lot seem to run tubing or channel parallel with the frame and then set the cross members on top of them. I was going to build mine with steel but I think this is how Im going to do it. I dont see the sense in adding the extra weight and a 4x6 is plenty strong enough plus you only need to go as high as your bump stops. So this is so much simpler and it looks pretty cool. Nice job man.

Nice! Not sure what wood you used but if someone else is doing this I would recommend NOT using wood treated with alkaline copper quaternary (ACQ) or copper azole (CA) because they will cause steel to corrode much faster. If you do I would recommend sealing the frame somehow. Also whatever fasteners you use should be galvanized or stainless steel.

Hey, on my XJ there are studs on each side for the trans crossmember. How did you remove yours?
@slothfabgarage8233
@slothfabgarage8233 Жыл бұрын
the easiest way to remove the studs is to thread 2 nuts on to the stud and lock them tight together. then put a wrench on the upper nut and turn it out. since its jammed against the bottom nut it will pull the stud out of its threads in the frame. sometimes you need to use heat to help the process but this is how i have always gotten them out, even very stuck ones
