What the heck is alumicut? Can I just use polishing compound they use for cars?

Alumicut is just the lubricant I use for my sandpaper. I imagine the polishing compound your referencing should work fine.

My local Ace Hardware wants too much for polished aluminum diamond plate..It's $50 for a 2' x 1' piece! A whole 4' x 8' sheet is under $200 at the right place. That means cutting up a 4' x 8' sheet nice and clean will sell for $800! I nearlt bought 2 for this project but looked in a big metal recycling dumpster by my house and found a 1060's commercial grade SS bus boy dishes cart and drilled thr rivets out which loosened the best looking piece to make my box from. My battery holder was Amazon bought and made spicifically for making a 10S 4P Lithium Ion battery pack. Spot welded nickle strips, insulation, BMS, charge port and all. It is a safe battery. I accidently drilled a hole in an 18650 Lithium cell that was attached to a big battery pack! It instantly burst out a foot long flame from the hole i drilled. Lithium batteries, the older 18650 cells do the same thing as a diesel engine when the venturi is stuck WOT. it "Runs Away" The engine has a hi pressure fuel pump built into the block and builds about 600 lbs of pressure and you cant shut it down ...Lithium cells react violently with water. Actually it is oxygen. The hole i drilled was super small but it let air contact the lithium or rare earth mineral and it nearly explodes. You have to just let it completely burn itself out. 40 cells took about half an hour. Looked like 4th of july kind of in my parking lot. Some stoner dude that lives on the other side of the complex(Who blazes weed 24/7 and dreives home smashed every day has the balls to say, "Hey, what abouit my wife and kids safety man...." I nearly reminded his about the safety of all the people and kids in cars around him on his hippie trip home every day.....But just left him feeling stupid after he made that hypocryticle statement.

That sounds like a wild story! Glad you got your material, and were safe with the battery situation!

I made a top and bottom box like cover for an auxillary ebike monster battery pack and hand bent everything. It has a rustic look to it but not bad. Now I'll do this mirrir look on it. The auxillery battery takes this ebike way beyond the stock 10 mile distance. Im good for about 50 miles if I peddle just a little on inclines.

Thank you for showing your techniques. Has anybody been to like a Dennys restaurant bathroom and seen the stainless steel that covers the toilet partitions? Idiots come regularly and grafitti the SS sheeting. Then maybe weekly a worker uses a semi rough sanding disc to burn off the grafitti? I'd think starting with the mirror finish any marker or paint would wipe right off with maybe Goof Off cleaner. Gasoline for sure will remove it but stinks.

Question , what grit would I use to get started on , on car trim thats already nice , but want it more shiny ?
@SkillsandTradeАй бұрын
If your not removing scratches and is already pristine. You could try 800 or 1500. The Trizact Foam finishing pads are meant for car bodies so they will really shine up whatever your working on. But honestly it's usually always better to start at a lower grit and work up.

Hello, I have 55” stainless steel tank head that I want to get a mirror finish on. Your video was done on a flat surface do u have any suggestions for doing a curved surface? I’ve watched vie Videos where they just cutting pads with compound and got mirrored finish without any sanding. Oh course they didn’t explain the cutting pads or what compound they used, The last one I did I tried alumacut that didn’t come out so good. Please give me any advice. Thank you

I've seen a couple of comments regarding CyberTruck, I'm wanting to do this to mine. What RPM's are you using during the sanding?
@KevinSillsАй бұрын
You install the SSD into the mounting bracket first before mounting it, you install the cables to the SSD after you install it. I have the Snappy Driver CD which is really handing for installing all the drivers for Windows XP, I install the video and sound drivers separately as I have a Sound Blaster Hi Fi also, I have these and all my game updates on a USB.

Is it the same for regular steel???? I been looking for which airway wheels I could use for steel. I only see stainless steel
@SkillsandTradeАй бұрын
I used the same steps on some Carbon Steel and it worked perfect. Although, Carbon Steel doesn't shine quite the same as stainless.
@Soldier1287Ай бұрын
I Practiced on a scrap piece and I used “scotchbrite” abrasive rotary attachments up to 800 grit, then sandpaper attachments like yours 1000grit to 2000 grit, then I switch over to cloth buff wheels on my drill for the first two rubbing compounds (black & brown), and then I use my renegade airway wheels of green, purple, and finally blue rubbing compounds and it came out pretty damn shiny despite I see many scratch imperfections
@SkillsandTradeАй бұрын
Yeah, it's a long process to get perfection, but I'm happy to hear it turned out super shiny

Using Isopropyl alcohol in between the grits does help a lot and is recommended; I was just blowing off the dust with the drill in the video.
