Law school grades matter, and they matter a lot--for 10% of the class. If you are in the top ten percent of your class, and preferably also on The Law Review---NOT a "secondary journal"--than you can participate in On Campus Interviews and probably get some offers from large well paying law firms. The very top firms, like Cravath, are extremely grade-conscious, and may only hire those students who are in the top 5 percent of their class, at which point Law Review becomes fairly irrelevant. That said for 9/10 law students, their grades are utterly meaningless. There is no prize for second place in law school. Law schools will use all sorts of tricks to prevent those who are permanently out of the running for a job in Big Law, dishonestly telling disappointed students who didn't make top 10, that "Well, if you're NOT top 10 percent/Law Review but you ARE top 1/3 & Space Law Journal, that's pretty much the same thing!" Please don't fall for those lies. And don't beat yourself about being in the bottom 90 percent of your class, those coveted Big Law gigs only last around 4Y on average anyway, 4 miserable years of 70 hour workweeks.

I’m applying to HLS next fall, If I have a 170+ LSAT and 3.85 GPA, and some work and life experience, can that make up for lacking extra curriculars? That’s my biggest worry, it’s cuz I’m an online student.

I’m soooo happy to see this. I thought I was the only one. I CANNOT do communal bathrooms so I’ll do happy that they have private rooms and bathrooms. 😮‍💨 My bathroom is also my safe space and sometimes I love to relax while in the shower. THIS is what I want. Are these rooms covered under scholarships? I just checked and I’m seeing that these are a little over $19000 a year. U are literally like me. I can’t live with tons of ppl, can’t share vacuums etc.

hi! thank you for your video its really helpful - I've been worrying about the GPA requirement because coming from where I study, it is quite impossible to score above a 3.6/4.0 gpa scale (no one in my entire cohort does for my subject), and I am worrying if this might make my gpa really low in comparison. For example, a 3.3/4.0 can already land someone in big international firm training contracts as a lawyer where I come from. Will law schools be well aware of this?

According to the ABA for Law Students, “About 90 percent of the nation’s law graduates do not get hired through OCI. OCI is just one avenue to legal employment and, depending on your academic credentials, career goals and practice interests, it may not be the appropriate avenue for you.” If you think going to law school is a quick ticket to a well-paying job with a large law firm, think again. I run into unemployed, and severely underemployed, lawyers all the freaking time as I go from courthouse to courthouse for various clients.

But she went to HLS and got many HP as grades. She isn't the average Bear. She has better grades than Cece.
@criminallaw9573
@criminallaw9573 Жыл бұрын
@@MrBjorn6 If you say so. Outside of the very top law schools, OCI is reserved for the top ten percent of the class, generally speaking. Of course, at low ranked law schools it may be reserved for the top 5 percent of the class, or not even exist. In addition, while at most law schools only those in the top 10 percent will get interviews with large law firms (top 5 percent for Cravath, Skadden Arps and other extremely grade-sensitive firms) not all of those who get interviews will get job offers. So, at the end of the day, perhaps 8 percent of the class at most law schools will get a job offer in Biglaw. Oh, and BTW, the average tenure of a first year associate in a large law firm is about 4 years. So even if you "do everything right" and get a better paying job than 92 percent of your classmates--which is an extremely challenging thing to do, of course--your "career" in big law may be done in 12-36 months. 7Y of your life (4Y college, 3y law school) probably over $400k in tuition, books, and living expenses, maybe closer to half a million dollars, for a job that lasts 2-3 years. Pathetic ROI.

Hello Caroline and thanks immensely for sharing. I realize the question I'm about to ask is subjective, but it helps me. Given the method of your prep studies ( I will self-study also), how long was your entire study program before testing? Again, thanks and good success.

Hi Caroline! I have a question regarding collecting the footage of the work you found of yourself when you were working as a background actor. How did you obtain the original film footage of your work? How were you able to get ahold of your footage? I am in the process of creating a demo reel for my acting work and I also need to use original film footage to create my acting reel. Can you walk me through the steps?
