When I was there they had numbers and they were so low! A 75 was honors, almost no one was about around 82 or so. I guess everything is more "consumer friendly" now.

Congrats on passing law courses on your first semester at Harvard, which is not cake walk in the park. I am on my final semester and final year of college taking my capstone course for my business degree in HR. Last semester was not easy, manage to pass my last upper division course in business analytics II with a b, which was challenging and team leadership skills with a B+. It was not an easy semester for me.

I'd be happy to do a video on budget/how much things cost! I know that US law schools are definitely more expensive than Canadian ones, but I think the process of paying for it is the same (for most people!) just through loans, either from the school (harvard has a great financial aid/loan system) or through banks!

The fact that you waited four weeks to get grades was so relatable. I never understood why professors took so long to post grades in law school.

It's always so frustrating as a student!! Especially when you have friends at other schools who've already go theirs haha

They all work outside the law school for big money and give nothing back and don't even pay overhead for use of the school facilities that are subsidized by the students and their parents. It's an ugly fact not well publicized. So that takes a lot of their time.

@@ak203 That may be true in your area, but it was not true at my school. We had a group of full-time professors whose only outside engagements are appointment committees and research. The professors who had full-time jobs taught electives on a one-class per semester basis.

@@rebeccac4769 Sorry but I don't know your school. At Harvard most professors moonlight through consulting and being of counsel on cases and double, triple or quadruple their law school salaries, so they are often occupied with that, along with publishing/research.

Greetings from an American expatriate and retired Texas Licensed Court Interpreter (English-Spanish) in Taipei, Taiwan! The lawyers that I worked with in Bexar County (San Antonio) and other Texas venues tended to be grads of Texan law schools and then, of course, licensed to practice via Texas’ bar exam (generally after a bar exam prep course). How do you Harvard Law grads manage the state-specific bar exams after graduation, since I assume that the majority of you will be practicing in court systems other than in the state where you went to school? No biggie, just personal curiosity.

hi! I have a video up on the OCI process for 2l summers, but for 1ls there isn't really something like that, you just have to apply for jobs on your own, most schools will have a central site where they compile opportunities though!!

Honestly, cambridge housing is pretty expensive. It's on par with Toronto prices almost, so I dont think there are any super affordable spots unless you get lucky!

so how do you know your 'class rank' or whether you graduated 'top of your class' if the grades are only divided into P/F and H and then a very small percentile get a DS? As I understand it's quite important to know your class standing with regard to post-graduation opportunities.

As I understand it they don’t really have class rank. They have honors, but no specific ranking. The rationale for this in schools like Harvard Law or Yale Law is that no matter where you graduate in your class in a school like this, you’ll get opportunities. It also is an attempt to reduce stress and reduce competition (at least from a graded perspective).

Harvard doesn't do class ranks! I think a lot of the top law schools don't just because it doesn't matter that much, you can tell mostly from grades and you'll likely still have great opportunities either way, no matter what your grades are.

Does Harvard law school teach you how to not answer the asked questions? It’s a serious question. I have seen plenty of Harvard law school grads in Congress dodge the simplest asked questions by giving the dumbest answers.
