Upon further investigation, this snake species is a mangrove snake (Boiga dendrophila ) and is considered mildly venomous. Mangrove snakes are widely distributed across southeast Asia, including Indonesia, Malaysia, Thailand, Singapore, Vietnam, Cambodia and the Philippines. It is native, but not common, to Singapore. And Mangrove snakes are soft venomous snakes, their venom isn't considered life-threatening to humans but it can make us hurt and swollen. They are classed as least concern by the IUCN. [ hope this clears it up ]

Dave what would be the lagal stand point to keping a wild species that was found injured and cant be released? There must be a way of getting the paperwork (f10?) etc in place or does the law say to pass them to someone whos already papered?

While I was volunteering at a centre we got loads of wild raptor rescue requests. Most of them were simply done, but occasionally one that required euthenasia would pop up and it would always go with the member of the public being appalled and telling us that they'd hoped that we'd be able to take the bird in and use it in displays and such... It was always so hard to explain why that just wasn't an option. I don't think people really understand just how these things work or that nature is much crueller than they thought m

Adding to your last minutes of the video; huge mistake many falconers make is feeding only breast, thighs, wings and back of a quail, pigeon, or any other food source. They avoid internal parts/organs because they fear dieseas. Like mentioned, that's a huge mistake, most essential vitamins/minerals are stored in liver, heart, kidneys and brain. It's the same with us, humans, we eat mostly just muscle meat and we eat organs, connective tissue and quality bone broth too rarely. Many human health problems would be solved if we would just eat more previously mentioned parts which contain nutrients which are not found in muscle meat. It's the same with birds.

Great video . I may get another hawk next year as I am now retired but there are few rabbits so at my old age I may try a spar as that will require time I can now give and plenty of quarry. Back in the nineties I flew a male feruginous there were loads of rabbits and not what is considered good feruginous country but he dealt with it and we caught rabbits every day usually multiples. He was a great hawk that left me with great memories

Hi, on average, what number of pheasants would a female Goshawk be keen to bring down per hunt?
@falconry.davesharpenatureboy10 күн бұрын
Just depends on availability and the falconer combined with fitness of the hawk , goshawks will take multiples but I’ve mostly stopped at one kill per day . Obviously a tiring chase of hundreds of yards will take more out of a hawk than two or three rabbit flights

Here in The Republic of Ireland game within a 50 mile radius is nonexistent from my home. There are loads of Fox, I have not seen any lights flashing about at night caused by guys lamping Fox in at least 5 years. There are a huge amount of Magpies and Crows. Phesents are no where to be seen I feel due to all the Gun clubs closing down due to no young guys coming in to the sport of hunting. I have seriously thought of giving up my Birds (Harris's Hawks). The only reason I have not is that at least my Bird gets out each day if only to follow me for a walk in the country side which I love to do. Rabbits are very very scarse. Love the vedio Dave.

Beautiful birds, I've only worked with one of them but she was incredibly territorial and afraid of people she didn't know. Once out of the aviary she was fine, but getting her out was impossible some days and a struggle on others. I don't know if it was a lack of consistent handling that led to that or how she was reared (she was absolutely imprinted) but it was an interesting experience none the less!
