I’ve done my best to follow to use video and the manual however after I have thread the first stitch the thread ends up getting cut somewhere under where the bobbin is perhaps? @@derekdoeschannel I'm not sure. The only thing I know about them is he bought the 2 jeans and the jacket 1 month before he was drafted into the army for WW1 in 1917. if a white leather jacket slightly yellows in a closet is it possible to get white again? and would this help?

I think you'll have to re-dye it white. I think that the original white has deteriorated or had heavy sun damage. White leather is difficult to keep white.

I don't understand. People wear a piece of clothing for a year and never wash them???? Why would you do this? They must really stink by that point. Why would you not wash them after wearing them once like a normal person?
@derekdoeschannel7 күн бұрын
Wearing selvedge raw denim isn't for everyone. No, they didn't have any smell, I'm not sure why peoples pants would stink after a period of time? Washing your denim after every wear severely limits the amount of time they're still wearable. I think it goes back to when these jeans would have been "new" as in 1937. Men back then didn't wash their jeans every time they wore them. They'd probably get a few washes per year actually and not in modern machines like today. That is why vintage denim looks so much better than todays denim. They try to copy the look but it's never the same as original, actually worn in denim from the past.

looks good. I have seen some people get good results with a cap-full ( less than a tablespoon) of bleach in the wash to get rid of the dinginess and have a better fade although that might be something you want to try with one of your less expensive pair of jeans first. Also have you tried on Levi's jeans from this era ? how close is the conners fit ?
@derekdoeschannel8 күн бұрын
Thanks. I don't think any bleach will get on these. I don't mind dinginess myself... lol. I've owned all the LVCs. Conners is 100% fit to originals. Plus they are made on the same year machines as originals which makes them a bit better than LVCs.

I’d still go with the medium. Unless you like a looser fitting jacket. If you’re stuffing a puffy jacket under it then maybe go large. These are bigger than a store bought jacket to begin with. I can wear a small but it’s more fitting.

You've actually got the machine threaded incorrectly. You want to go around the tension unit counterclockwise like you have it, but then keep going behind the checkspring and behind and over the L-shaped rod that sits right over the tension discs. Then you come back down to hook under the checkspring, up through the takeup arm, and down through the thread guides to go through the needle. I recently picked up a Consew 18 that has the same threading and it took some time to figure out how to thread it correctly.
@derekdoeschannel14 күн бұрын
@@Nicoya thanks!
@Nicoya14 күн бұрын
@@derekdoeschannel While you're at it, you'll also want to make sure that the checkspring hasn't hopped over the stop, which is quite common if the thread snags or gets tangled. The spring should rest against a notch in the casting behind the tension unit when the thread is slack, and bump up against the adjustable stop when the thread is pulled taut.

Nice video Derek. The one thing you mentioned in your video that you are not correct about is the color. The color is green like you mentioned, but it is also brown. The reason it changes color is because it is green on onside and brown on the other, so depending on how clint was wearing it, it would either be green or brown. If you look at the new figure that was just made of the man with no name/Blondie by Sideshow, they did the poncho correctly as it is two colors just like the original which Clint still owns.
