This game, for me, is easily one of the worst Lego games. The class system, the boss fights, the level design, removal of character creator, the excessive, repetitive, overly simple collectables. The fact they censored some of the deaths when older games gave them more of a comedic take. I've replayed every Lego game I own, I will never touch this one again.

This games biggest strength is also its biggest weakness: spells It’s great that there’s slow but steady progression and you learn new spells every year, but the problem there is that the earlier levels are much more simplistic as they consistent of a couple of Lumos/Wingardium puzzles I’d say the opposite is true for the open world, it’s nice to have activities to do on the side and in the first two you’re able to open up new areas after learning spells which keeps a sense of progression, but by movie 4 you basically just walk around. They could’ve added a couple of brief reducto obstacles to replace movie 1-2 ones. What makes the open world good here compared to a lot of later games (even fun ones like Batman 2 and Marvel) is that because it’s an enclosed environment it’s easier to find things, and once you map it out you can find rooms easily

I’ll also add that the criticism about levels needing more free play rooms is valid, but I suppose the open world could make up for it

I’m okay with the fact that it was only the first couple seasons. If they’d adapted the whole show, they wouldn’t have added more content, the game would just span all the way from the battle of Geonosis to Mustafar in the same number of missions

I strongly disagree, for me the mods ruin this game by making space battles too large and overcomlicated. Saying that some units are overpowered serves no point as it could be said about any unit, and if everyone is overpowered then no one is. The heroes respawn is ok as long as you play with defoult settings and don't set the tech to lvl 4 or 5 from the beggining. The AI usually do well, there are some glitches but they are rare. For the land battles they are less intresting then space ones but they can still be fun and enjoyable, and if you don't like them then just auto resolve or use the death star, the graphics are fine for me as I like thge older style which is another thing I don't like in mods, although everyone enjoyes something else I think that this game is still worth playing without the mods.

My most replayed Gothic game out of all three (I bought it at launch and Piranha were releasing patches, I usually replayed it then) and I think my favourite one, despite I think 1 and 2 are better.

As a Gothic games fan, this game gets not really deserved hate, expecially from other so-called Gothic fans. It's very functional, was much less buggy than Gothic 3 at launch, while not the same lavel of immersion that Kai Rosenkranz gave with his soundtracks, it has still excellent soundtrack that I play often on YT to this day. It wasn't very "Gothic", one could say, but nowhere near a bad RPG, let alone worst of all time. Not a diss at you by all means, just my observation seeing almost everyone covering this game.

BUT COMPARED TO NEW GAMES LIKE DRAGON AGE VEILGUARD THE STORY IS ATLEAST BETTER+VISUALS IN THESE OLDER GAMES SEEMS TO MAKE ME FEEL KIND OF GAMING HAPPY OR HOW I SHOULD PUT IT LOL!!! ANYWAY OLD BUT BETTER THEN NEW AND AT SAME TIME WORSE AND HORRIBLE...ITS BOTH GREAT N BAD AND I LOVED THESE GAMES ONLY A FEW YEARS BACK!

By some small miracle, the 3rd film doesn’t introduce any new characters (besides Dain Ironfoot) or locations. This means that missing this movie has no real effect on the open world or the roster. Annoying that the levels are missing, but again, at least this isn’t like other trilogies where the absence of the third movie would rob us of entire hub areas.

After the Lego games started doing voice acting, I kinda hated them all. I don’t want to watch cutscenes with legos, I wanna PLAY WITH LEGOS. Maybe I’m just old, now. Idk. I do want to try this one, though. For sure.

For me LEGO The Clone Wars is the worst LEGO game ever released. I haven't watched Clone Wars animated series so I played this game blind in terms of the story and some characters and the story felt really uninteresting for me. I only remember the chapter with Grevious, the rest was so boring that I can't even remember the names of the Villains. Ground battles were tedious and quite long to the point where they felt like a chore to me. Normal levels on the other hand had very same-y locations with lots of combat and very similar enviroments where it seemed like we are in the same place many times. Overally it felt really boring and repetitive to me. I played for like 9 hours until I finished it and halfway through I was already tired of it.

One most specific memory I have about Gothic 3 is how I got it from my parents a week or two after the premiere in 2006 and my disappointment when I booted it up and it had like 5 FPS, it was literally unplayable 😆 This game was so demanding back then and the performance being bad even today makes me realise that my 1 core CPU in 2006 didn't stand a chance against this game. After years when I got more powerful PC, I finally played it and I have to admit it's my least favourite Gothic. I really like the world and the graphics (which were insane in 2006) but the story and so many fetch quests really push me away from it. I decided to replay it yesterday because I thought that replaying G1 and G2 after years of break wouldn't be so complete without giving G3 another try. I downloaded Content Mod and Quest Pack so I hope it will be much better this way 😁

Honestly the only issue I have with the game is the time limit on the ground battles (the assault missions not the nornal ones); you can't really build up this big massive army and besiege the enemy bases (which are well-designed fortifications) but you mostly just need to bum-rush to the objectives with whatever the needed vehicle is to destroy the specific base.

I love how it gave you that black glitch texture. Even at the beginning the game honestly shows what it really is 😆 . I've already written so much about Arcania that I don't want to repeat again why the story is pointless, why the characters are boring and the writing totally idiocratic, why the level and world design is a monstrosity and the game has nothing to offer overall. I finished it (and Fall of Setarrif, unfortunately too) just so I could legitimately criticize it. Arcania isn't (thankfully not even officially anymore) sequel, but it never was for me. Gothic trilogy ends with the Nameless' decisions towards the end of Gothic 3, and I personally don't consider Forsaken Gods a sequel either.

Melee builds in gothic 3 have exactly 2 states. State 1 (early to mid game) : Combat is all about keeping your distance, and trying to get in swings just before the enemy gets in range to attack. Aside from trolls and casters, you will be able to kill literally anything the game has with this strat. Either use 1-handed weapons, or the halberd, or any variant of a greatsword. Reach is king, which means a large chunk of the 2-handers in this game are useless (every axe, every mace, every hammer, etc.) State 2 : After you reach a certain treshold in armor, or you get the stats to be able to wield the best weapon in the game ; Krush Tarach, the game turns into Dynasty Warriors. Just start swinging , even the entire population of a village will not be able to stop you. Here's an example of my gear progression on my latest 1-hander melee playthrough. Weapon : Orc Slayer -> Broadsword -> Longsword -> Bastard Sword. That's it. There was no point moving on from the b.sword, it has the best reach of the 1-handers, and weapon damage basically stops mattering because most of your damage comes from STR. Armor : Nameless Hero Pajamas -> Light rebel armor -> Heavy Rebel Armor -> Paladin Armor. Armor only starts mattering once you start liberating villages / destroying rebel camps, so there isn't much point wasting gold on the gradual upgrades. Just get something basic from the first few merchants, and then buy the best faction armors when you start taking on huge groups of enemies. I miss the gradual build-up of power in the earlier gothic games. Climbing up the food-chain, starting from killing young variants of common animals and goblins, moving on to regular animals and humanoids, to snappers and lurkers, to trolls, to undead, to orcs, to dragon snappers, shadowbeasts and wargs, and so on. Gradually taking on larger and larger groups of enemies. Every little upgrade in either weapon or STR felt meaningful, and new armors were huge improvements in survivability. Here's an example from Gothic 2. Early on, I can kill a lone warg fairly easily as long as I execute perfectly. Couple of hours pass, I can kill a lone warg fairly easily, and recklessly, because my damage out-put is so much better, and I can actually take a few hits without instantly dying. Some more hours pass, and I can take on 2-3 wargs at the same time, because I can fairly reliably kill one in 3-4 hits before the rest chew my legs off. Late game, I can take on entire packs of them because I can absorb quite a few hits from them, and reliably 2-shot them.

Gothic 2 introduces a new control scheme that does not require 2 keystrokes for any action, meaning you can use LMB to interact with stuff, and LMB to attack when your weapon is out. Also there is an option to lock on a target, which will make you turn and target them, which completly fixes your issue with the targetting system.

I've played the game when I was a kid without ever playing Gothic. It was incredibly fun for me, especially since I didn't have any experience with other RPG games prior. It was released before Diablo 3, Skyrim, Witcher 2 and other staples of the genre. And whatever was newly released when this came out wasn't as good for me: Fable, Two Worlds or Overlord. Also, I still remember there was a Leech hammer in a dungeon in the first swampy area that I used all the way to the end of it.

I feel like the problem with this review is that the problem he has with the game is that it isn’t classic. Like sure, some points are valid, but he’s acting like Lego Star Wars the force awakens, (LSWTFA)was the next game after Lego Star Wars 3 the clone wars (LSW3TCW). When in reality, the Lego games have had 5 years and 12 games of growth (now, he probably knows this, but he just keeps directly comparing it to LST3TCW, which is really annoying). An example is the voice acting and open world, he complains about them not matching a Lego game, even though they both have been there for 10 games by the time of LSWTFA. That complaint should literally only match Lego Batman 2, and that’s it.

I like this but I wish there were Rebel and Imperial story campaigns. Also Mon Calamari really should have been included in the story campagin map IMO because committing Piracy there lets the Consortium build the Nebulon-B Frigate my favorite canon Star Wars ship. Also I wish the Starviper had been an advanced fighter rather the the Consortium's basic fighter because two of my three favorite Star Wars starfighters, the Novasword and the T-Wing are either from the OT er or the Prequel era and known to be used by pirates or bounty hunters so I wish one or both had been part of the Consortium fleet. Also I find it odd that in the Consortium Campagin they start with access to the tartan Patrol Cruiser. I understand why they don't have access to their Crusader Corvettes yet but of the other factions starting anti-fighter capital ships IMO them having CR90 Corvettes makes more sense because the CR90 is the most common Civilian capital size ship in the setting. In fact IMO the same reasons they don't have Crusader Corvettes at the beginning of the campagin can apply to the Starvipers as well so that's another reason for them to have a non-Mandalmotors starting fighter. The rebls gain the MC30C which is my favorite new ship in Empire at War so I disagree that they don't gain much in space.
@thecynicalgerman
@thecynicalgerman 7 ай бұрын
Well, that's a lot to respond to - thanks for your comment! Regarding your last point, I agree I should have phrased it differently. Between the MC30c and the B-Wing, the Rebels do get some good capital ship killers. I'm just more interested in star destroyers/dreadnoughts than smaller ships
@roguerifter9724
@roguerifter9724 7 ай бұрын
@@thecynicalgerman I'm the opposite. I use one Star Destroyer size vessel per task force, two for the Consortium sometimes. By typical Rebel Forces of Corruption has 1 MC80, 3 Assault Frigate IIs and an eight to sixteen ship mix of Nebulon-Bs and MC30Cs plus a couple of Corellian Gunships and Missile Corvettes. And that's not an unusual mix for me. Usually if my fleet in a game doesn't have tons of Frigates its because there's some rule limiting how many I can use (In which case I either still use a few, or as many as the game will allow depending on the nature of why I'm limited).or I haven't gained access to any yet In a 4X type game for example most of my larger then Frigate ships are either for flagship duty, carrier duty, or there are some weapons or gear too big to effectively mount on a Frigate which they are carrying.
