The best thing you can spend your money on after you have the essentials is training. Track days, advanced driving courses, safety training, offroad training. Anything that teaches you the skills of riding a bike. Nothing will give you a greater return on investment in your riding career. Once you can jump on most bikes and ride it like a Chad then you should buy the extra toys. Then you'll appreciate them more and not sell them to a scrapyard next month.

If I haven't seen accidents happen I would probably agree with you. Sadly it isn't about maturity. Already seen riders get hit by trucks with faulty brakes because they couldn't move out of the way in time.
