As an owner of a high mileage base R56 I’ll testify these engines are fantastic (when they aren’t broken) they Rev extremely high make great power and especially paired with the 6 speed manual with its super short gearing they are FAST but they are beyond stubborn they need lots of TLC to stay happy and healthy it all depends on how much money you’re willing to spend on how much maintenance you’re comfortable with doing yourself frequent oil changes top offs and (93 octane) are going to be your best friends with these cars I like to use injector and emissions cleaner every couple thousand miles just to stay as safe as possible I love my R56 it’s a total blast handles like a dream and has an amazing sound thanks to a simple $100 exhaust mod but I’m very scared of that timing chain

Auto start stop, I shut the thing off because it's disconcerting having a vehicle come to life after a stop. I don't buy a vehicle to get from one place to another, meaning I'm into my vehicles handling, sound and other performances, and as it moves, I look for certain things to occur at certain times. I notice things like restarting when it's not in my list of what should be happening at certain times, and it startles me in a light sense.

Also, can ISTA+ perform the bleeding procedure or it needs to be initiated manually as you showed in the video? My E82 coupè has low mileage 85k km/50k+ miles) I’ve owned since new and the electrical water pump failing is something I think about. No codes to date or anything to indicate a problem. Funnily enough, I’ve had the coolant changed by bmw a few times as a preventative measure. They tell me I’m the only person that ever asks for that service! 🤷🏻‍♂️

It’s not designed to save fuel, it’s designed to reduce emissions. That doesn’t mean I use it, it gets switched off every time I use the car.
