Russ great explanation of how Blisworth works. Russ I noticed your display of the train information shows bigger font size ,how do you alter the font size on the train information box? My display screen 1920 x 1080.

Hi, Yes I have the same screen res as yourself. If you resize the boxes you will see the font size changes. It's a bit hit and miss so you will need to try a few times. To set them in place without gaps etc just select the [window] [arrange] menu option. Hope this helps.

Russ , TC means "through carriage". EG. - 1N81 for Windermere also includes a section for Blackpool ( removed at Preston no doubt ) and section of Sleeping cars and and coach(s) for Whitehaven ( also removed at Preston ?)

Thanks for another informative video Russ, I have been playing this version of Bath Green Park and have enjoyed it so far. I am wondering if there might be some updates to other heritage sims like Kettering Jcn and Wigston North as they are quite old now. Keep up the good work.
@railwayruss11 ай бұрын
Thanks for your comments and interesting idea. I've just had a quick look at them both. Kettering has bracket signals so just FPL's and Track Circuit indicators to put in. Wigston North looks fine I think.

Good evening, it is not yet entirely clear to me whether those old electric block systems (Absolute block system, if I am not mistaken) with a wooden case were or were not influenced by the passage of trains for the purpose of occupying and freeing the section (block) towards to which and from which the train was respectively headed or from which the train came. Furthermore, it is not clear whether there is an electrical connection between the lever that controls the opening of the starting signal and the apparatus with wooden case. In other words, was it possible to pull the lever that activated the starting signal towards you without first having received electrical consent from the next station? However, it is common ground that where there is a token block it is possible to activate the lever that opens the starting signal even before having handed over the token to the driver, unless there is an error on my part. Thank you very much for your availability and collaboration

Thanks Russ. I must say I have never risked having class 9 trains up to 3 hours late! I tend to use the bottom right ALL/ALL cell, which fill all the other cells with the same figure, such as 30% of trains averaging 20 mins, and then tweaking a few of the cells, such as class 0 appearing from sheds. The entering of numbers is also non-intuitive, rather different from Excel, for example, and can be frustrating. I enjoy putting on substantial degree of lateness, but be warned that long delays (or a failed loco) can result in a second version of the same loco appearing before its previous working is complete, thus unrealistically having duplicate versions of the same loco simultaneously on the panel. I have reported this in the forum a couple of times over a period of years and asked if the software can be modified to prevent this happening. John has acknowledged this as 'a useful feature' and has said that it is on the list for possible future development There can also be a problem in that the order in which locos exit sidings or sheds appears to be fixed in some cases, so a late running loco can hold up following locos. This is a pity, since it is unrealistic most of the time, given that there might be situations in practice which would cause it, for example if a loco was to fail and block exit from the sidings. Here are links to a couple of my posts on these topics groups.io/g/pcrail/message/1923?p=%2C%2C%2C20%2C0%2C0%2C0%3A%3Acreated%2C0%2CLlandudno%2C20%2C2%2C0%2C89698999 groups.io/g/pcrail/topic/80376788#1025 Peter

Thankyou for your comments. They do make interesting reading and I take your point about Loco's coming off shed too early and getting in the way and also being a duplicate loco. I would therefore advise caution using a high figure for late train running especially when loco changes are required. Thanks.

Thanks for this Russ. Re Harwich - I have always pronouced it Ha -rich ( not pronouncing the W ) . Being from the MIdlands I obviously don't know if I am correct . Thanks Russ for demonstrating how to handle the game. I will try to emulate you practises and limit my use of using the telegraph system. I found it was hit and miss. And l learnt it is best to play the game to only use real time as if you have uncouple a train you miss completing the tasks within the allocated time if you speed up time. Of course in the real world the uncoupling and splitting of wagons would been performed by a shunter staff or goods guard. I assume the staff/train driver would ring the signal box staff to initiate the release of the train on to the main lines.
@railwayruss2 жыл бұрын
Thanks for your comments. Regarding the Yards etc, normally the shunter or Person in charge would ring the box to advise train is ready to depart.

Thanks Russ for demonstrating the basic process of moving trains. It has clarified for me the sequence to follow to complete the train movements through a section. I have tried to use the same process for the Chippenham heritage series but I have had problems early in the simulation at 5:20 am in dealing with the splitting of wagons from the Down refuge siding and getting them to be moved into the Goods Shed line. Please, can you demonstrate how to start the Chippenham simulation.

@@railwayruss Your videos encourage me to try the Heritage series except Tonbridge which is seriously difficult. I noted the stress in your voice. The problem with Chippenham I have is with the 6B04 train which has to be placed in the Down Refuge siding and then the engine and 12 wagons have to be detached and designated as 9L04. I uncouple the 12 wagons but the loco is not recognised as being part of the detached section which is to move forward. The 9L04 has to move to Goods Shed West. I cannot get the 9L04 to move out of the DRS. What am I doing wrong?
@railwayruss2 жыл бұрын
@@oscardewyldde I actually ran through this part. Email me on [email protected] and I can go though the sequence. I will also be covering this on a video. Please note Front and Rear when uncoupling refer to the last movement made. Try uncoupling the rear 12 which has the loco attached. I suspect you may be uncoupling the front which is now the back, with no loco. Confusing? Yes it is, Look at the < and > to determine which end to uncouple.

Funny how they never just went to a telephone...or automatic block signaling.
@NewBuildmini3 ай бұрын
There are telephones, but they are used in certain cases, e.g when specific or detailed information is required. Bell codes are quicker, especially when it comes to routine tasks like offering and accepting trains. In modern boxes/centres they are still used as backup when the commucation links fail. Most signalling nowadays is Track Circuit Block (TCB) with automatic signals. Mechanical signalling has only survived on secondary lines with lower traffic levels.
