For cheaper people! Hilarious. I'm going to remember that a great sense of humour is a sign of intelligence. Your choices get my seal of approval. I love the Unforgettable Fire. OK, I will admit that I have never heard all of Asylum.

Great picks! I always thought that Ramones cover was cool. Thanks for having the bravery to show U2. I love that album, pretentious or not. I just picked up that JJ Al bum a few months back. Great entry!

Yeah that Ramones cover is the definition of cool. At that point U2 were the shit! War, UF, and Joshua Tree was an amazing three album streak. That’s also a great time period for JJ. Thanks Jeff!

The truth is out, I'm a cheap bastard. "No false praise"..."I don't think there's any need for that, but I'll go ahead anyway" 😂 The Ramones! I saw them in 1987! The place was so hot, the walls were sweating. I think I need to expand my Joan Jett repertoire as I had no idea she had so many albums. You've shown a few over the past couple of years including that one that I didn't know. The Brian Eno/Daniel Lanois production on Unforgettable Fire took U2 in a new direction. I love the first 5 albums! I have most of the Robert Plant solo stuff including that one. My copies are all on compact disc as that was all I was buying at that point. "Little by Little" is an excellent song as you said. A lot of folks rank Powerslave as Iron Maiden's best releases! Good video Gary!
@vikingbrace
@vikingbrace 5 күн бұрын
Thanks Mike! Glad you liked it. I knew you would appreciate the humor 😉. Nobody is more of a cheap bastard than me lol. The Ramones are an experience live. It should be hot! Yeah I agree about U2’s first five. You can’t go wrong with Joan’s first four albums either. Robert Plant has some patchy solo work but there’s some great music in there. Thanks for watching and the cool thread!

I saw them for the first time in 1986. me and three buddies travelled 660 miles in George, a very dodgy Toyota Crown and amateur psychedelic paint job with no clear idea where the venue was. We got rousted by the cops about 2 miles from the border (once you got across the border, you were out of the clutches of our notoriously violent local fuzz) but somehow talked our way out of it. First time any of us had been to Sydney. Brain smashingly loud and rowdy gig. I don't recall us talking much on the way back!

This was a great discussion. I didn't know about U2 until The Joshua Tree and got into The Unforgettable Fire after that. I'm impressed that you were an early fan. 😀 It's been a long time since I had thought of the song Tears Are Falling but that was "my song" my sophomore year of high school. Paul's vocals are incredible. Take care. ♥️🤗

Well I think I have about five years on you so that probably helped me get into U2 earlier 😁. I still love”Tears Are Falling “! I totally agree it’s an amazing vocal by Paul. Hope the renovation is going well! Thanks for watching 😊

Hey Gary! I wasn't doing it in 85, but thanks to you, I now listen to 'Powerslave' and other Maiden albums. I have the Plant, KISS, and U2 albums you showed, but I wouldn't be surprised if I've gone 10 years without listening to them. I'll check the spreadsheet and let you know in the text thread. I need to do this today. Good luck in the "faux-contest!"

Gutsy move putting country music on the channel - it's a kiss of death round my way! :-) I think it's a true indication of McGraw's status in Country music that he, along with only Dwight Yoakum, Alan Jackson, Garth Brooks and the great George Strait are the only hat acts with enough cred for the hat not to actually be an issue.

Rebel Yell was the first cassette of I ever owned! I've long had it on vinyl as well. I've always loved Glen Hughes voice; I remember playing the Songs in the Key of Rock album a lot when it came out 20 years ago or so. Speaking of cassettes, I also had/have Save Yourself (McAuley-Schenker Group)...far from his strongest but always recalled had this album kicked off with that unmistakable MSG guitar. Cool video!
