I kind of checked out of Death Note when L died, I didn't think that was true to Light's character, but obviously I'm not the author, what's the point without and equal adversary but it's been a long time since I watched so maybe I'm missing some things but it would have been better imo if L took down Light, say instead of getting got he fell for Light's deception and protected him only to eventually realize, maybe after the entire world was 'saved' crime goes to zero and the public loves him, maybe then L takes down Light and has to reflect on whether it was worth it
