Because it really doesn’t have that much potential. If the story of Demon Slayer wasn’t so on rails and jumping around to different points in time or just focusing on the characters sitting around and training half the time, then maybe you could justify making an open world game out of it.

People always just compare it to Mario Party... like we get it, MP did it first, doesn't mean it's allowed to be the ONLY multiplayer minigame-based game in existence lol. There's plenty of em out there that follow a similar formula. Tbf most of the people I've seen play this game with friends are usually still able to have a good time and have a lot of laughs. Any game capable of that deserves more credit imo, even if it isn't to your tastes specifically. Is it great? No, of course not. But it's really not the worst in the world
