The amount of videos of this topic i've seen is huge, i always knew what to do to have better execution, the problem is, i don't have the hand speed, muscular memory and rhythm to do execution in a satisfactory way. After months of training, i still can't complete Yuzuriha trials in the first Under Night, neither Karin Trial 6 on SFV, this last one made me have a mental breakdown, i don't touch a fighting game in months, and i believe is better this way, sucked in a thing that i love so much is one of hardest feeling to have, the fighting games are better without me.

I think it's great to play against the computer when you are tying something new. I prefer to compare it to adding resistance on a weight machine. At the start, you lift just the bar, get your form correct. Then, you add A LITTLE weight just to feel some resistance before trying to max out. It's a gradient, most people don't just instantly go max and stay there, it increases chance of injury. Likewise for fighting games, you are increasing the chance of burning out. Same principle here applies in martial arts sparring, especially when applied to holds and submissions, which can injur your partner. This last part isn't as applicable, but maybe it should be, we tend to focus on just killing the opponent but typically don't concern ourselves with how that loss affects them. Just saying, when somebody loses to you and crashes out, it's okay to poke a bit of fun at them, but try to keep it in perspective, having your ego hurt sucks real bad sometimes

To me the biggest flaw that i have in 2d fighting games is the timing, i never learned when is the right time to press the button, and honestly, i believe i will never get it. One of these days i was trying to make some Kof14 trials, and boy, it was rough, i failed so many times in simples strings that i almost break my controller.
@ChiliDayAir

@viniciusmatias7446 I can't lie to you "timing" is something I struggle with till this day. For myself in neutral I learned that you don't always have to initiate with a "big button". When playing footsies I learned to just use a good poke, even if it isn't cancelable and frustrates my opponent. THEY WILL MAKE A MISTAKE, that's when you can turn on the combo sauce.

100% agree about the "invisible numbers". Late 90s I used to set challenges for myself back when we had no training modes etc., like "beat each max difficulty CPU opponent while having the max possible handicap and not lose more than 25% health each fight". Yeah it was hard, and it sometimes really got to me when I couldn't make it work, or had bad days, but within a week or two I had improved so much that I knew the game (Gundam Wing Endless Duel) inside and out.

I believe you can make it (if you haven't already). Tekken is very difficult to play as you know. However, there are ways to get better even with little time to play. Rewatch your replays and see what you could have done differently or what you could have punished. Make sure to put the detailed frame data on as well. Steve is a hard character to play especially for beginners. But he is one of the safest and has great whiff punishes. My general advice with people who throw out moves randomly is to let them beat themselves. By that I mean, like that law you faced he kept throwing out big very unsafe moves which with a little patience will give him a L. Now even though I said be patient that doesn't mean be passive. Make sure to try and get your turn back whenever you can while paying attention to your opponents habits. An example being I play Leo and Leo is very linear; one such move is b1,4. It looks scary because its plus 9 on block, the second hit can be sidesteped and launched. I throw this move out as a knowledge check and if they sidestep it I will stop using it. Try and gage your opponent. In short I believe in you and you can do it. 😊

@@ChiliDayAir Thanks :) Yeah, strategies for dealing with challenges is sort of key to mastering said challenges 🤪 Playing against CPU is something I have always enjoyed. Loved to play Treasure Battle (?) in Tekken 5 for example. Seeing how high I could get a character rank wise. Ofcourse T5 didn't have online so there wasn't really other options apart from Devil Within 😃 Speaking of CPU I just tried out the Tekken 8 demo yesterday and figured I'd set the difficulty to easy for trying out combos. It got boring pretty quick as the CPU basically just stood there waiting, so naturally I increased the difficulty. However I didn't expect to have as little resistance on Hard as Easy. I put it on Ultra Hard just to check and GOD DAMN THE DIFFERENCE WAS BIG It went from going up against a beginner Kyu/Dan to a fucking Master in a split second! Great practice for constant bombardment of different attacks + blocking your offense, evading and punishing you. I haven't played Tekken in a long time and forgot how much fun it is to go up against CPU on Ultra Hard 🤩
