NEVER PUT YOUR SEED PHRASE ONLINE. People can take over your account via seed phrases. You need to create a new seed phrase and or get a new account. I wouldn't be surprised if you get hacked dude

Well explained sir. I think there's a lot of us who are realizing we can save money with self-directed investing versus going to our banks and having the robots do it. Appreciate all the feedback as I learn more about potentially investing towards bonds in my portfolio.

It's called a coupon because the bonds initially contact in the form of piece of paper with detachable coupons, you detach them when a payment date arrives and give them to the bank for money.

If you don't use a broker but buy/sell assets (ETF's. via TD Canada trust webbroker ) via a banks webiste.... will you be notified via the bank of a "closure" of an ETF or from the company directly?

But WWIII would be nuclear with a nuclear winter and so no markets would be left functioning. You'd want to own: farmland, guns, ammo, silver and gold.

I do not understand why that you think that these trusts are bad. If an individual has accumulated a significant amount of money and property, shouldn't they be allowed to dispose of it in any way that they see fit? These assets don't belong to you, me, or the government. They belong to the owner. If they want to set up a perpetual trust, that's THEIR business.
@ttuliorancao11 ай бұрын
What guarantees private property is the threat of use of force to protect them. In modern society it is the assurance that the government will protect the private property by using its monopoly of use of force via the police or the military if necessary. All this protection have a cost and if the super rich isn't footing the bill, someone else is. Furthermore, if we consider all the other aspects that are necessary for creating an enviroment prone to enriching people, it has several other costs. For instance, without the US government expending hundreds of billions of dollars to project its military strength around the globe to protect shipping lanes and conquer cheap natural resources, the US dollar would not be important as it is today. Heck, even public education and social networks are necessary for creating a prosperous society that enables people to be productive enough so some can get filthy rich. So yes, everyone needs to contribute to this costs and the ones that bennefit the most, the rich, should be paying most.

@UpDive8 Жыл бұрын
It’s usually priced pretty expensively if everything is thinking about inflation. That said, it is a good tool to invest if there’s an expectation that inflation will increase over time.
@aaba1473 Жыл бұрын
You're misleading people. People investing into "investment grade bonds" cannot beat the inflation. People investing into "high yield bonds" can easily beat the inflation while collecting 8-10% interest every year. The key is to invest into bond ETFs that pay those fat dividends.

I loved this drive until one day it totally failed. Suddenly not recognised on MacBook Air. Try to isolate the problem by trying different MacBooks, cables and USB ports on the Satechi adaptor. (Note: USB ports were removed from MacBooks about 3 years ago). The massive Australian retailer JB Hi sold hundreds of them and, going by reviews, about 40% failed within 3 years. The rest are no doubt about to fail, so I'd suggest you buy an SSD drive and definitely not Western Digital.

I am experiencing this problem right now! Suddenly, my Time Machine backups to this drive stopped. The drive now states it is read-only and Disc Repair can’t run on it. I tried to erase and reformat, but erase failed. Out of options. What is a dependable HD to use for Time Machine backups on my M2 Mac Mini?

Same. I regret buying WD Passports without reading the reviews. I bought *twice* (!). And all failed. First one in 2019, failed in May 2023. Second I bought in July 2023, finally failed in less than a year in April 2024.
@juanzamarripa3778Ай бұрын
@@Cyan_Nightingale were you constantly using them? I mean were they powered on at all times? Or did you store them away as archival drives?
@Cyan_NightingaleАй бұрын
@@juanzamarripa3778 The first one, I used it for works, so it did move here and there, I have protected it with a protective bump case. Then became unreadable. The second one I rarely move it outside of my apartment, only for watching films. But also failed in less than a year of usage. Compare this with HGST Touro 1TB external HDD that I bought in November 2016, it's still working even today. So I sworn not to buy any WD My Passport again

I've been using a Passport (1TB) for a while as an external drive connected to my Blu-ray player - to watch downloaded videos on, but it has had multiple issues with its NTFS filing system... To the point where I've (repeatedly) had to format the entire drive, and copy everything I wanted, back on there. It's terribly frustrating. After the most recent time I went through that malarkey I couldn't even access the drive from any other computer, unless I bought some software... Finally managed to format the drive (NTFS again), copy some of the previous content back on, and within a few weeks the problem returned. It seems to me there's a vulnerability to the disc's file management system, and it just isn't as reliable as Western Digital would have you believe. Mine is going out the virtual window: I'm physically destroying it. After that I'm shopping for an alternative means to watch videos on my TV...
