I’ve been meaning to buy this one for months now, mainly for reading books. But it is quite a huge purchase for me being the frugal that I am, so it was put on-hold. Remembered about it again today so I decided to search for reviews and luckily stumbled upon yours. Each benefits and tips you mentioned just solidified my decision to finally purchase one, especially the language learning part since I am starting to polish my Japanese. Thank you so much for a well-made review!

I’m unembarrassed to say I’m also super frugal 😁 but yeah I really like the note-grid feature, even if it’s not super high tech, but pretty useful. No need to waste a lot of paper just to practice writing.

Jan 2023, i switch to Boox Tab Ultra. Best 10.3'' e-ink tablet on the market (functionality, ease of writing, feeling the pen, latency, app integration). If i'd wanted a color e-ink, i would have chosen the Bigme Galy (with the new Gallery 3). But i dont need color on e-ink. If i want color - i can watch media and work on my laptop, smartphone and TV. This is only for productivity. I am happy with my Onyx Boox Tab Ultra.

Thanks for this super useful review. I never would have considered these products without. btw, that nifty chart , 01:10, is creatable on the Remarkable2 with fun and with ease. In fact you can draw it. Drawing, and writing make my brain feel happy because it is so much more interactive and engaging for my brain. ... Too bad the Remarkable 2 is extortionately priced, and frankly, so very limited in functionality.

Some other review says that for drawing, only the built-in note app works smoothly - if you download Procreate, Affinity Photo or Designerr, Fresco, etc, the delay before your pen lines appear is unacceptably long and distracting. Is that your experience?

The customer service is Horrible! I've had the Note Air for a couple weeks now and the pen has proven to be very cheap. not only does it lag but there might be lot of movement making it hard to write with. After having it for around three day the movement got worse, so I e-mailed customer service (because you cannot call them). Joyce (The customer service rep.) finally replied asking if I could send a video depicting the problem, so I did. In fact, I ended up sending three videos and two pictures, over the course of a week. After spending much more time than I should have on it; I got a final reply basically saying there's nothing she could do for me. Firstly, it is quite difficult to get across this looseness on video as it is a tactile thing. Secondly, the problem was getting worse. IT WAS BROKEN not on the outside but on the inside, which could not have been my fault. If the problem wasn't such a big deal then why would I waste my time on it why would they wast there time on a product that they know is having problems as there are many reviews and comment saying so. And, I might add, it probable cost them pennies to reproduce. Here's why they are not allowing me to send it back. lots of people are just buying the "upgrade", so BOOX is wanting me to do the same, but I paid for a product that came with a pen; why would I buy one that is just as crappy? Guys DO NOT buy from them use any other pen there are many that will work there are KZbin videos showing how they work and work well with BOOX products.

I picked up a Kindle about three years ago and I have switched between the Kindle, The Oasis, and the Paperwhite. None of them seem to suite me. I love my paper white but I want a E Reader that does it all. One I can read for about three hours a day, sign documents for work, take notes for work, and finally be able to side load some Books I found online. I give a lot of money to Amazon for my books but I don’t wanna pick up a B&N Nook cuz it’s the same thing! Proprietary software is the bane of my existence! I just want a E Reader with a Pen and USB C charging (Wireless Charging is a Plus but not required). Sounds a bit needy I’m sorry, I guess I’m just looking for a good recommendation, IPad is a bit niche now so I just wanna support E readers as much as possible while supporting stores like Barne’s Nook store or maybe a small Library Website. I really appreciate it if anyone has good things to say or has a recommendation for a Device. I like the Boox Note Air but I wanna be sure. This is my Last Device I wanna put money on.

Connect a rubbered band around the pen to add weight? 06:38 "A very nice touch for note-taking"? How nice. How does it compare to the Remarkable 2? Are their overlays for giving a more authentic "pen to the page" feel? I was so close to ordering the remarkable2 twice today, and at least triple that in the past several weeks. Price , limitations, and now your review have helped me cool my heels. Still, the "pen to the page" feel are like size for you: deal makers.

Great review which I really enjoyed watching. I have subscribed. I’m thinking of buying what is now the Note Air 2 but just a little concerned about its lower dpi of 227 to my Nova 3’s 300 dpi and whether I’ll find that a disappointment when reading books etc. on it when compared to my 300 dpi Nova 3. However, like you, I think that size does matter and great as my Nova 3 is, it’s not ideal for note taking (being too small) not for pdf reading. Looking forward to watching your other reviews and hopeful that you have may done a Note Air 2 review but I’ll find out. Take care and best wishes.

Trying to purchase this for mainly class note taking (business student so comparatively quite a lot writing for me). However I am concerned about the nibs lifespan. Will you suggest it for heavy note taker? Also can give an idea how long will the nib last for that purpose? One more question, will you suggest anything smaller than 10inch for note taking (nova air os cheaper and I’m on super tight budget)?

The pen is useful for note taking , it’s a joy to write with actually. But the one that comes with the note is quite fragile unfortunately. The good thing is though, I heard you can use other replacement pens that are more sturdy.

I have a 10 year old Kindle, wich I cant use, since the light settings dont have an off switch. Even at lowest settings it still emits some artificial light, wich my eyes cant handle. Is it the same with Boox? Or can the backlight be switched off completely! I really need a no-light digital device! Thanks, M
@UpDive82 жыл бұрын
I can’t quite say how it might look like for your eyes, only can say this from personal experience. The boox has two “light” views, one for daytime which is more yellow, and one of night time which is more blue, I do think it is easy on the eyes but can’t guarantee whether it will work for you.

"... my long commute to work". Does such thing still exist? :))) Nice review. I have been thinking about getting an e-tablet to read and annotate pdfs. I am however put off by the fact that most systems are closed systems and you always need to make copies of files. I send the pdf to the remarkable (for example), do something with it there and then return it to its original place. Since this works on android, do you know by any chance, if you can install dropbox and work on files directly IN the dropbox, so that you don't make copies of files? Essentially I want a workflow, where, in the best case scenario I have something open on two computers and everything happens live on both (well obviously not for pdfs but for the rest...).
