I just put a Wix XP on my wife's car. Had a hard time getting it to seal (yes, it had oil on the o-ring). I had to use a strap wrench to get get it tight enough. Of course, it dented the can... Even before watching this (and your XP video), I ordered a Fleetguard for her car (and the proper cap wrench). I have a Cummins 6.7 and ONLY use Fleetguard, I guess we will be a 100% Fleetguard house...

My question is on the Fram, how well do you think the steel stamp spring seals against the metal base plate on the bottom of the filter? Steel on steel and if that leaf spring stay flat against it or does it flex create a leak??
@WhipCityWrencher51 минут бұрын
It leaks. I've tested a few other filters with this type of bypass and they failed as well. The only filter that passed my bypass valve flashlight test so far was a Purolator One oil filter. Here are the links to those two videos. Thank You. kzbin.info/www/bejne/n6TKc6KAmd2Dbas kzbin.info/www/bejne/gV7HeoSBrpeLq8U

Many people dont mind the cost. They dont want to stop !!!! ? Not fun ! Ha! Do it. ! = $70 oil change = $ 5000 eng. ?? Ken. 50 + years building engines .. ??

While I wouldn't use one of these filters, assuming this guy has been using them and this cheap oil for over 300k miles and his engine is still running fine I'd say the quality of the oil filter isn't that important. While I've always used the best oil and filters I can and changed my oil long before 3,000 miles, I strongly believe that given a choice between running a more expensive oil and filter for longer intervals and using the cheapest stuff you can but changing it at or before 3,000 miles, your better off with the cheap oil and filter. I've torn down lots of engines and other then running one out of oil or overheating it, long oil change intervals at the biggest cause of premature engine failures.

I agree, long oil change intervals is not a good thing, no matter what oil filter you use. Thanks for Sharing👍👍

The Mobil 1 filter is made by Champion Labs and is excellent quality. I can see the Super Tech is a different manufacturer. The larger surface area allows for mor flow at the same level of filtration. Hope this helps. (Champion Labs product is better).

The deposits on sparkplugs are from combustion, the deposits on fuel injectors are from fuel. You aren't demonstrating that the cleaners can clean a fuel injector, you're demonstrating if they might work as combustion chamber cleaners.

I saw a review of both filters on the website Brand Ranks. The Fram Ultra is a great filter and does indeed filter better than the Mobil 1 , however , according to the website , it is also much more restrictive to flow. A great compromise for a couple of dollars more would be either the new Fram Endurance or the Purolator Boss.

Glad he brings it up, but to make it clear... The bypass valve opens when the PRESSURE DIFFERENCE between the dirty side of the media and clean side reaches the bypass valve opening pressure. In other words... If the bypass valve opening pressure is 10psi, when oil is getting pumped into the filter (outer holes) at 40psi, the valve will only open when pressure on the clean side (inside center tube / hole) pressure drops below 30psi. The difference in pressure is essentially a measure of the restriction the filter is causing to oil flow - and there is always a measure of restriction (even with a brand new filter). The bypass valve is there as a safety, for when the filter gets full (media clogs up) and the filter begins to restrict oil flow through the media (or if the filter malfunctions in a way that restricts flow.). The bypass valve is designed to open over that standard restriction level to prevent the engine from oil starvation. Consider it your filter's SHTF safety mechanism. Thanks! Keep up the great videos!!!
