There used to be a great site online for looking up specs on oil filters, but no more. If you go to Bob is the oil guy, you can find the info you need with a little digging. Look at the specs of the one you are replacing by its part number - threads, oil gasket inner and outer dimensions, capacity, relief valve specs, etc, and you should be able to find something. The threads, the gasket inner and outer diameters and by-pass are very important to keep in mind. I have a Jeep with a 5.7 V-8, and it ran a little warm off-roading. A larger filter, a cooler, and a bypass valve with a small micron oil filter took care of that. I ended up with three oil filters on it, but no more overheating. On the filter, you want to make sure it is not too big or long. The one mistake I made was getting a very large capacity low micron filter, but it hung down too far and may have gotten ruptured. I also installed an oil filter and cooler on the power steering. I know this is a long answer, but hope this helps. Have a great Christmas.

IDK what your vehicle is but since ~2001 vast majority Honda use the 7317/14610 application size. Really, the 7317 application should be plenty big enough. The topic BA filters are the same size as Honda OEM, that even though the filter number ends in "12" which generally means the shorty 6607/14612. Not here though, it is the correct 7317 size filter. Not aware of a longer filter. Imo, stick with 7317/14610 application size, it's plenty.

I love it when they have that plastic seal to avoid contamination from shipping & handling. I'm a bit surprised to see the Japanese filter media with more holes in it. Very nice to see the clean construction. AKA - No glue slopped all over the place that seems to have rather unfortunately become somewhat common even amongst the higher cost well known filters.

I have bought several Beck Arnley oil filters for my 2015 Mazda 6. The base plate is identical to the Mazda filter but the rest of the filter is different, but decent and they are made in China. As another commenter stated the Japanese filter has VIC written on it which is a Eiken brand. I think Eiken also makes alloy wheels. At least I have seen their name on them. Oh-oh, your shot at 4:48 shows a problem with the threads on the Korean filter. There is a big valley at the peak of each thread (at the minor diameter). This is what happens with rolled threads when they are not rolled properly and there is nobody inspecting it after the thread rolling operation, or else they have a sloppy spec and it meets their sloppy spec. The threads will hold, that's not the problem. The problem is that you are much more likely to cross-thread it when you are putting it on the car. I know this first hand because I had this problem for about 3 years with the Wix filter that I use on one of my cars, and it was a Made in USA filter. If you want to read about this, google "Why do screws tend to cross-thread in internal rolled threads more than internal cut threads?" and you will find an article called "Are Rolled Internal Threads as Good as Cut Threads?" Look at Q4 in the article. The valleys they show in their diagram are small, probably ok. The valleys in your black oil filter are too big. The Japanese filter on the right probably also has rolled threads but they look good from what I can see. BTW you got really good lighting inside the filter and good focus on the parts inside in the early part of the video before you took it apart. I appreciate that, it's not that easy.

Having used several Chinese, Japanese, or Taiwanese-made BA parts, I've never had a bad one or one fail early (water pump w/gasket lasted well over 7 years / 68K without failure or leak) but I've never had one that I felt secure and confident about like I would a Wix, Bosch, Denso, NGK, Aisin, KYB, Bilstein, etc., part. My grandfather owned and ran 3 foreign auto part stores in the 70's, 80's, and 90's in the Inland Empire region of California and during those years, BA was their primary part supplier. If you ordered a BA part back then, 90% chance you got a repackaged OEM price for a fraction of what the dealership had it for. Nowadays, there's no saying what you're gonna get. Economy grade? Standard grade? OEM? BA is auto part roulette!
